Are You Ready for the Heat Wave?

Ask a Question

According to weather forecasters we are expected to have a rise in temperature in the UK over the next few days. Some say 27-29 degrees. How do you cope? I learned from a friends fire fighter husband that by running your wrists (pulse points) under running cold water or submerging them in cold water you can lower your temperature. I also love putting a cold towel around the back of my neck. What about you? What's your go to in the hot weather? Image

I can’t wait for some hot dry weather after all the grey rainy days. Sooner the better.

Nope, no, nope. We were at the beach yesterday. Given it was a Monday it was mobbed. I'm glad I'm not at work this week. The wonderful architectures decided to make it mainly out of glass. Freezing in the winter, boiling in the summer. Even with heating on in the winter it's far too cold. No aircon so we all suffer. It's horrendous.

I love the hot weather and I’m always prepared if I need to cool down. Lucky for use we can have the front and back open all day to get a breeze blowing through plus I have ceiling fans in most rooms and two Dysons. But generally you will find me in the garden when the suns out.

Not at all, I hate it. Everything is put on hold because I get heat fatigue and can't do anything that takes effort.

I love the sunshine and hot weather. In the garden I have parasol or keep to shade at hottest times. I cool down with ice water and sprinkle on skin then use a fan. Not so keen being at work in kitchen today though. All fans will be on, open doors and windows and cold drinks. All I can do really.

Weather forecasters never get it right, yesterday where I am lovely blue skies , bright sunshine and temperatures in high 20's .Woke this morning much cooler and quite overcast and dull not looking promising for a repeat of yesterday here.

29 degrees is far too hot for me. I remember running water on my wrists when I was pregnant. It did cool me down but only for a limited time. My husband recently got air con installed, so he will be delighted that he can use it.

I prefer to stay as close to home as I can, so I can enjoy the sun if I want to but close to fans and the fridge for cold drinks through the day.

I've got emphysema and asthma, so when the heat hits it's a real struggle, yesterday was terrible, it was so hot and a struggle to breath 😔

Haha 😆 the gif is so funny 🤣 so me! I keep drinking water to stay hydrated! Haven’t been able to sleep 😴 well too hot 🥵 in my room! I always get headaches and feel so groggy 🥴 during heatwave days! 😭 Got some cooling strips and at the back it says can use them to not only soothe headaches but you can use them to cool down when it’s hot weather season! Can place on forehead and back of neck too! I forgot about that area 😅 been putting it on forehead lol and taking meds for damn tension headache 🤕

kitty88uk Have you considered camping inside a duvet cover with an electric fan blowing into the opening? Apparently this really works and creates a tent full of cool air. I purchased an easter style, don't laugh, kingsize duvet cover in the sale especially for this purpose but have yet to try it out. PS Yes its covered in easter bunnies lol

Loving the hot weather - it’s about time we had a summer! If it dies get too hot, when you’re stuck on the bus or trains, I carry an aluminium bottle of cold water and use it to cool me down

Britain gets hot, but not that hot as other countries do.

PhilipMarc That's for sure. I was in Northern Italy at the beginning of this month and the tempretatures were 37 to 39 degrees. Perhaps we should be thankful as I don't think the Brits could cope with that.

These two are feeling the heat, my little cat Phoenix especially with being black has to be cooled down more than his tortishell sister Topaz..

It would be nice if we had more in the way of a middle ground. It is usually either hot and sticky or dull and wet. I think most people would be happy with low to mid 20s, sunshine and low humidity with the odd shower here and there for the gardens.

RegularComper91 In an ideal world eh? I think our only chance of this is to live in a bubble totally controlled by new tech. If this were available I would definitely want it.
