Budgets are tight. Cost of equipment is high. A lot of schools will use a mixture of ways to fund equipment, part allocation from the school pot, pta fund raisers asking for charitable donations. In all the settings I've ever worked in there's staff that sometimes buy it, or source things from ecycle/freecycle/gumtree. It depends on what they are trying to do in the playground

It is normally from a mix of funds. Some will come from the schools budget, some will come from fund raising, some might be donated from local companies. It depends what kind of equipment they are wanting. There are certain grants etc available, but they might not be eligible.

Cost of living is hitting everyone hard, schools included.

MrsCraig I watched something on the news a few weeks ago about school roofs

Many were made with a type of concrete called Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) with a short life span and can collapse without warning

Any schools over 60 years of age are at risk

They have found 68 with this type of roof, another 1,466 are being looked at and 2,044 have not been checked yet

This is more important than the playgrounds as far as safety is concerned but despite knowing about it the government have not taken any action until now

You can imagine the cost of repairs, it will be in the billions depending on how many are affected, in the meantime the kids are at risk of injury

Also many hospitals have this type of roof

I agree that the roofs are far more important to fix than getting new playground equipment. Luckily my sons nursery and school doesn't have roof issues but if they had a fundraiser for a new roof I would definitely donate to it.
