If you've got an existing wired doorbell then buy the ring wired doorbell. if not like me you have to buy a wireless doorbell and there is a subscription if you want to pay it.... Try YouTube for better advice

My neighbour got a Eufy one installed on the recommendation of an electrician who’d done some work for her previously. She’s had a bit of a nightmare trying to adjust the sensitivity of it and it’s picking up every little movement and so she gets a million notifications! Just something to bear in mind when you’re looking.

Most people I know have a wireless device. You just screw the holder into the wall, which is simple and pretty noninvasive. Then you attach your bell to the holder. You’ll need the little screwdriver that comes with it to detach it and reattach it to the wall. (To charge it etc.)

You do not need a ring subscription to just view live cameras, you will however need one to record footage, you can also talk through to people at your door, whether you are home or not and check activity when you wish to. Packages are from £24.99 a year.

If you have your own drive/path up to your house these are fantastic. If you are in a terraced house you may need to adjust the area, which is under settings in your device, the area is highlighted on the camera and you select the space in which you’d like your demotion sensor to go off. I think there are laws or suggestions on where you can legally have it, so it isn’t classed as spying. If however you live directly onto a public path/walkway. You may only benefit from setting it to go off only when it has been pressed or your bell would constantly be going off on your connected device/s.

One account will be the main account. So if you turn everything off via that account it will turn it off from everyone’s and the other people can’t turn it back on. If you have other people connected and they turn it off on their devices, it will only turn it off on their device.

There are some suggestions as to why people do not wish to use it and some say security reasons as to when not to. I assume if anyone to log in, they could see your regular routine or see when people have left. But I’ve never heard of people managing to get into the system, plus they could have always left or entered through the back of the house if possible. So that wouldn’t be the case for some.

I wouldn’t personally want to connect it to all of my devices like you can connect some to voice controlled devices, but more likely things would go wrong or be compromised. But I think it is a great idea for those that would like to see who is at their door or to respond if they aren’t there.

Everything has good sides and bad sides, I just thought it was worth noting what I know from both. Definitely worth having a read.

I think the simple Ring video doorbell is what you need. (Looks like it might be the 2nd gen) is what most people have. You don’t need the ‘chime’ if you have someone in your home all the time with a device set up to it. If not the added chime is good if someone is house sitting so it would set off the chime device indoors (like a typical doorbell) and not just from your connected devices. It looks like you can get a deal at the moment from their actual website with the chime device added in for an extra £10 so might be worth it.
