Where to Get the Best Deals on Ring Doorbells? (And Are They Worth It?)

Ask a Question

Hi! Has anyone got the ring doorbell & can tell me if it’s worth it & if they have pros & cons to it? Myself & my husband are debating getting one but not sure wether they are worth the money! Also does anyone know the best place to get a deal on one?

We have one and it's very sensitive to movement and can be uploaded by the app to your phone

I've had one now for 3 years and they are brilliant. Should be around £65 if wireless like mine and have to charge it every couple of months even though it can last a lot longer depending though on circumstances. You don't need a subscription and but if you do pay £35 a year you get extras

julie781x you can buy two versions one is chargeable like a mobile phone and one can be plugged in or wired up to an existing doorbell. You can find info on YouTube or Google.

It makes me feel much more secure especially when I'm home alone and I don't have to open to the door or look through the eye hole to see who it is, when they could probably hear I was there or open the letter box and know I was stood there.

If I hear a noise outside I can check outside my front door too, without looking like I'm spying or being nosey, it's more for caution as there had been more crimes in my area recently. It also records it, so if it was something dodgy I have it on record. Although it will show red lights if you look when it is dark, so someone may notice.

I can see if someone has come by when I'm not home or answer the door through my phone to say I'll just be a minute or if they could leave it somewhere etc. They don't know if you are home or not.

It can also record what happens at your front door, so if you wanted evidence for something, you have it. (Some young lads asked for work and I said sorry no thank you, they were very rude, it even recorded them slagging me off after I had closed the door) so be careful what you say when you are still near someone's home!

Do bear in mind, you should only have it viewing your property and not the road or neighbours etc. There are rules and laws. Although sometimes our neighbours do set our sensor off, with their shadows, or walking on our grass, one uses our path that is clearly on our property and often noses by our front door 🤔 (we have motion sensor on, you don't have to, you can turn it on and off as you wish)

It is very beneficial for us and I would think many others.

We have wireless so we do have to take it off and plug it in to charge it every few months, just like you'd have to charge a mobile phone, but it is easy to unscrew with the screwdriver that comes with it and put it back up once charged.

If you go away or out a lot this would be brilliant for extra security, if you have an elderly relative this would be great to help monitor, if you are vulnerable or disabled, it would help massively as you don't have to answer the door physically to interact with them and you can notify them, you are on your way to the door, rather than them taking a package back. Great for security for everyone. I love having one, but am more uncomfortable if I go to someone's house with one, but I understand why they would have one!

You don't have to pay for a subscription but there are a few extra benefits.
