I liked him back on big brother’s big mouth but I have to say that I wasn’t surprised by the accusations since a lot of his material is very sexual. Guess it’s another case of hiding in plain site, i read an article on the times website and it all looked pretty damning.

jms19 Brand has been covering a lot of topics which are deemed unacceptable by the MSM so no surprise they're trying to destroy his rep.

The internet hates rapists, kid touchers, and etc. But as far as it goes for Brand, there's no evidence, only hearsays from MSM and apparently some women.

It's not about believing men or women, it's about facts and evidence.

PhilipMarc i have seen a lot of people say this but when I read the times article there was, what seems like to me at least, credible evidence. There was text messages that did not paint Russel Brand in a good light and the lady has paperwork that proves she was raped. The 16 year old he apparently was having a thing with also got an acknowledgment from his lawyers. I guess it will all come out in time but sadly i think he probably did behave in the way he has been accused of.

Brand goes against the norm and MSM doesn't like that, so they're trying to ruin his reputation. Ironically, this will only make him stronger and more popular. 🤣

MSM did the same to Tucker, Trump, Asssange, Hopkins, and it backfired.

Now, let's assume those accusations are real... Show actual evidence! Otherwise, I hope Brand sues MSM for defamation.

Obviously I don’t know him and it’s possible he could be guilty of allegations but why wait 20 years later to bring it up? Why not at the time? Sometimes it’s difficult to know what to believe. He has celebrity status. Either he used that or they are if no actual evidence.

JLouM If you see the things some of these women have to go through and the % of convictions is pretty low. They have their personal lives raked over in public with intimate details revealed for everyone in the public to talk over. Thankfully we've come a long way in 20 years but I can see why the women wouldn't have felt like it would have been "worth it" for them.

Problem with these sort of accusations is, in most cases it's one person's word vs another's, so there often isn't any evidence.

Never been a fan (I think his behaviour is generally vulgar, sexist, creepy and disgusting) but there doesn't (yet) seem to be enough evidence against him for an arrest.

I watched the documentary last night and whilst the evidence seems to be piling up against Brand a law court is the correct place for a trial not the media.

BTW PhilipMarc The internet hates rapists, kid touchers, and etc doesn't everyone?

I don't understand it after all that with Jimmy savile

Personally I think it's to early to judge. Considering he has been on channel 4 for so many years though it seems odd that they would risk airing something they didn't believe to be true. With his history of addiction, I wonder whether he has done some stuff he can't remember.

MelissaLee1 no the accusers should not make themselves known. I don't agree that we should know about Russell brand being accused either until he has been arrested and charged. But given the likes of Jimmy Saville I get why the media is going heavy handed on those noww accused. It's not right but I can see the why

Jerseydrew The media loves a 'juicy sordid' story of course. It sells papers and increases TV viewing figures but it also generates and excites huge amounts of anger and animosity. If we are going to point a finger at someone ,especially in such a way as this, then it needs to be a legal matter and not a media circus. Old saying: " Never air your laundry in public".

I have never liked him. I think he is a weirdo. Whatever appears next, he had it coming. I don’t know why these things appear years after they happened but they are in the open now. I watched Dispatches yesterday part 1 on 4 and yes he is one fruit loop. How can anyone employ such a strange looking character like him beats me. Under age girl too he raped and the things she endeavoured, poor girl. Throw him where he belongs and toss away the key. Can’t stand the freak!

I don’t know the man personally but he’s always put out about how much he loves sex and how many partners he’s had etc. I think there’s definitely something to this. People (young girls) can’t deal with this at time and it’s only later when they’re older, they’ve had great support and counselling that they can acknowledge that yes that did happen to me and they get courage to speak out. I know cos it happened to my 2 daughters and they didn’t speak out to they were older. It’s not easy to admit you’ve been abused or raped, especially when younger cos they believe that somehow they are to blame and it’s only when they’re older they realise it’s not their fault

chele44 oh I agree on that but not all these woman were children at the time as he's got no respect for woman at all just the way it was or is honestly don't know what they seen in him the first place I've never liked him but my issue is still the same there older why not go to the police now? Instead of doing a documentary

I can't stand the bloke but let the courts decide his guilt and wait until judgement.

I really don't see how an event 20 years ago can really be safely prosecuted though. Such rapes need to be prosecuted at the time. I feel such convictions could be unsafe. Also there are young women who get smitten by celebrities and then have sex with them at a young age which they then regret years later but that is not the basis for rape. Saying I was taken advantage of and didn't know what I was doing is not rape if you consented and were legally allowed to have sex at the time. Rape is forcing someone to have sex against their will at the time. If someone beats me up or steals my stuff I'm not waiting 20 years to talk about it to the police. Yes I know the culture was different back then and getting a conviction for rape may have been more difficult but waiting 20 years makes the case extremely difficult and costly and has a much higher chance of being unsafe. I personally think there should be a time limit on making accusations of rape but the process should be streamlined so the evidence is gathered quickly and the case is more likely to be factual and get a prosecution.

BonzoBanana in an ideal situation with a fair legal system I would agree with you - but I can well understand why women didn't come forward at the time. Why put yourself through all of that when you know the police dont care and the chance of a conviction was so small. Having sat through a very long complicated court case as a juror I have nothing but admiration for any one who decides to take the stand and have to relive the whole experience and be cross examined on every tiny little detail. It is hard enough these days when supposedly its easier than it used to be. In the case I sat through there were three individuals who took the stand. He was found guilty thankfully. It was only after the verdict that we found out more about the whole case and that there were seven other cases but the women were afraid to give evidence so didn't take the stand. I dont know about the JB case, but can well understand why women didnt come forward at the time.

didbygraham Surely taking the stand 20 years later is even more difficult as the facts will be less clear and you will make mistakes when cross examined. The other issue is the defence its much harder to defend yourself when such time has passed. You are left with the jury having to work out who looks to be telling the truth but they may have already seen the defendent in the media getting a lot of criticism and assumed guilty. So many of these cases too are absolutely ripped apart in court with many of the accusations completely false as they don't tie up with the correct dates and other incorrect facts. If you get 6 people accusing someone of rape it seems like 4 of those are likely to be completely ripped apart in court which destroys the credibility of the genuine 2 victims. A huge amount of time and expense for a random result because the proper evidence wasn't taken at the time. It also takes up huge resources in the legal system and the police.

Already the police are stretched thin and there are likely to be even more cut backs as we become a much poorer indebted country.

Also there doesn't seem to be punishment for people who make false accusations which are ripped apart in court. It's almost like because so much time has passed they accept there may be errors in their claims against the defendant so they don't take it any further. This seems unfair to the defendant. At the end of many trials we hear the person is found not guilty but for some reason we don't get the details of all the false information the accusers have stated surely the media should state why the case has failed and all the false information given. Instead we get the accusers upset that the defendant is found not guilty. Why aren't we getting the information on all the false statements given is that because they worry it will put off people from reporting rape? It should be clearly stated what has happened not manipulated there will obviously be many important reasons why a defendant is found not guilty.

Just seems the media present a slightly warped view much of the time creating a feeling in the public that there has been some injustice in the sentencing.
