www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/headteacher-blasts-sats-exams-after-26888429 I read this today and got me thinking my daughter who's doing her sats this week has been worried about them yesterday she wasn't so bad today different story she did say it was very difficult and now she's worried about the rest of the week saying she doesn't want to do anymore test i do think these test do put on alot of pressure on kids and I think they should be scrapped what's your thoughts?
My Children’s school spent a lot of time practicing for them, I would prefer them to be educated instead of being shown how to pass a test.
I think all these tests put a lot of stress on the children and the teachers. I don’t know an alternative way of assessing the children but it can be tough on some.
Yes. As someone who works with kids and in schools it's a waste of time and effort not worth the paper they are printed on. Just causes stress for kids and. Staff. Having to get younger kids to be quiet while they are going on isn't fun either
Jerseydrew that's my agreement kids learn at different stages in life and these have done nothing but stress kids out in my daughter class anyway as they know they are behind because covid all the time they had off then to go back it was all catch up don't get me wrong my daughter school has been good trying not to stress them out over them but the pressure is still there my daughter is not even going to high school she's getting homeschool in September
I agree too much stress for kids. Don't see the need for them. When I was at school there just stated doing SAT tests when I was about 12 so didn't do any. Just use to do small tests in basic subjects to make sure you was ok and didn't need extra help. I think this was a better way.
I believe tests for younger should be scrapped and focus on their abilities. All children are different and excel in different ways.
Does seem that it’s unnecessarily stressful for children especially those in primary school but there also has to be a way to test so not sure what the answer is
Completely agree, the focus should be on teaching not exams, particularly before high school. Building children's resilience and self work would be far better for them and the future prospects of the country.
i just don't think children or adults can be judged on test scores as some people/children get so nervous that there score doesn't review their knowledge.
JamieFidgett think there's a big difference between a 10 year old and a 18 year old mentally and emotionally and will probably handle test very different
