School Uniforms, Which Are Your Favourite Brands.
Ask a Question
Which are your favourite brands, as there are so many to choose from and the price difference is not that big, IMHO, my favourite clothes are from Marks and Spencer as they are retain the shape for longer than the rest, and do not shrink like others, will not mention the brands here.
What you are looking for. Slim fit, regular, easy care: easy iron, stain resistant, are you a brand snob? Do you prefer polo shirts or a t-shirts.
What is your favourite brand for school uniform shoes as they simply don't last for long and I am not saying about kids outgrowing them, just the fact they rip so fast.
Below is a ranking from Madeformums and an article about clothes and seems like Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury's doing well in the comparison.

For my oldest daughter for the last 3 years she was in primary school we got aldi ones and they lasted the year had to get a bigger size washed great and was very cheap
Leannexxx I mostly buy multipacks from Marks and Spencer when on offer, as polos works out like £1.5 each, and trousers around £3.7 each, which is very good price.
On the contrary my local uniform shops sell trousers for £15 or hardwearing for £24 and polos for around £9. Jumpers with logo are £14 and up.
I got our sons school uniform 2nd hand. I've got a mix of M&S, F&F and George. I still need to get his school shoes but will either be from Asda or Tesco. If I see his size in Aldi then I will get them from there. I'm not a brand snob.
martinlufc5637 That's what everyone should do I think, wait for the offers but sometimes you simply can't. Do you have any favourite brands of school shoes?
I use very and George as much as I can. We are changing rules on uniform and schools where I am are only allowed 5 logo items. One shop closed blaming the government for it and holding parents hostage to it cos they just wanted to rake in cash from parents. One school had literally 15 items with logo including coats that were rubbish. To warm for autumn and spring. To cold for winter. Shower proof not rain proof. Summer dresses that were £14 for 1 because tte only schools that use them are posh private schools. This was a box standard local council type school. Thankfully mine hated them so never wore them. When the girls wear pinafore dresses parent can get cheap no logo polo shirts as you can't see the logo.
I get what I can cheap or 2nd hand. One other problem we have for our secondary school you have to buy blazers and tyes with house colours on. The school do not put siblings in the same house so you can't hand uniform down which is wrong for parents. Yes education isn't babysitting and childcare it's education and parents have to absorb the cost. I've no issue with that. I have issues with making it more expensive then needs be and not not as eco friendly as possible. Like you have a massive list of stuff to get for 2nd school but most isn't needed or in the first term. You can be given a terms notice for things like shjn pads and gum shields. With a lot of logo stuff for my kids primary I refused to buy it. Especially hats, coats and scarves.as I had to duplicate it for weekend and holidays. I worked at the school. I hate the attitude pay me more and increase my hours so I can afford it if they were that fussed.
Jerseydrew we have a local school bank shop. People donate uniform thy has been outgrown and anyone can go into the shop and get what they need for free or if you can afford it, giving a small donation. I got all of my sons uniform 2nd hand. Got his school Jumpers for free as his school had a pop up event and you took what you needed. I only have the one to buy for and will donate the items to the school bank once he has outgrown them. Forcing parents to buy expensive logo items just isn't right. I used to wear my brothers hand me down school uniform, saved my parents a fortune.
MrsCraig I know it's also why I hated it. If yours sending your child to a fee paying school fair enough but not gor a local council school. Also regardless of which school it is as its bad for the environment
We usually pick school uniform up when it's on offer in either Sainsbury's or Tesco's, Even managed to pick up packs of cardigans and polo shirts last year reduced to a pound and got bigger sizes to put by.
I used to swear by M&S when my daughter was younger especially the iron free stuff. However I would have to say the best school uniforms were the ones worn by ADCD
