Should schools be responsible for teaching children how to sleep?
One school has hired a sleep specialist to guide sleep-deprived students on when to go to bed and how to fall asleep.

Well, they could introduce nap times for them - it’s not like they’re learning enough anyway lol

With all these suggestions about what schools should potentially do for the pupils is there still a role of 'parent'?
tumblespots I think things like this are helpful for kids who come from disadvantaged homes.
SamGoodship So I would raise the question 'Is it a right to have children that you aren't prepared to take care of, to teach everyday manners, courtesies & commonplace things to?

You don't learn how to sleep.You are tired and you have a clear conscience that's pretty much all it takes.If you give your kids ipads and mobile phones they will inevitably play with them beneath the covers I guess!
All my teachers taught me in the 1980s was the class subjects in Bradford West Yorkshire.
So I must have been in the wrong year
Why don't we just ask teachers to read them bedtime stories and tuck them in 
, maybe make them a little Coco before hand
It’s not all down to lack of sleep, if the child feel‘s extremely board in the class, where the lesson is not interesting enough they are going to switch off. Some children find it very difficult to understand Theory instead of Practical and not a lot of Teachers can identify this problem because they just assume the Child is tired and lack of sleep.
Koala123 I think a lot of it is being stuck to the desks and doing a lot of written work - it can definitely make you tired if you aren't moving around much.
It must be a fee paying school as most state schools in the UK can't afford a full teaching staff or equipment.
I think this is a wider problem in society really, it seems for some reason people want their responsibilities lessened but then also want to make their own decisions.
As a parent if I relied on school to teach my child to sleep then i don't consider myself a capable parent
