Scientists Find a Way to Turn Banana Skins into Clean Sustainable Electricity

Other

I love this kind of thing, using a waste product to give us cheap green materials for clothing and fuel

And all from the waste skins of bananas

It is a joint effort between Northumbria University and their partners in Pakistan

Imagine how much landfill will be reduced also , it's all so ap'peeling'

So there is hope that our electricity might be reduced in the future , and we will not be going 'bananas' over those huge bills anymore

I tend to throw banana skins away onto open ground or typically around bushes etc when I'm walking and have taken a banana with me. I've noticed something is eating the banana skin the next week when I travel the same way. Ants maybe? As the banana skin is ripped apart and mainly gone. It feels right to throw a apple core or banana skin into open ground with wild plants everywhere. Animals will make use of them surely. I just can't put them in the rubbish bin with all the plastic waste knowing it will end up in landfill.

I chop the skin up in to little pieces then soak it in water for twenty four hours, my plants get the water and the chopped skin goes in the garden plants soil 😊

I just put the banana skins into the food waste bin. My parents compost theirs, have done for years. Like others have said, I'll believe it when I see it.
