Would You Recommend Selling on Vinted?

I’ve got a stack of clothes to sell - Mainly new mid-range designer bits and bobs with tags and have had way too much hassle with eBay in the past.
I keep having people recommend Vinted - Have any of you used it before with success? Any tips from the community would be massively appreciated!

Hi I’m in the same boat as UBDM and neo1. I have dresses and shoes I’ve never worn. Will watch this space for tips how to use Vinted. 
Vinted is brilliant, no fees at all.
Sold quite a lot of items on there.
If you live near a Hermes drop shop, use the Hermes postage as buyer pays upfront for shipping label 🏷 just make sure choose correct parcel size.
Of using Royal Mail, you pay first then get the money when the buyer has received parcel, again check weight and size.
Not had any problems with Vinted, easy to use selling site.
When you sell an item, the funds sit in a waiting area until the buyer has received, then gets paid to your Vinted account. To withdraw funds, just add bank card details and payments usually in bank in 2-3 days.
There is no selling fees so all funds are yours.
I tried this with some of my daughters clothes. I sold one batch but the time I had added postage it really wasnt worth it. People are after something for nothing. I would rather donate to a charity shop.
eyeballkerry I have heard that side of the experience too. Funnily enough more so with kids clothing. I’ve taken a whole load to the charity shop, once I’ve given this a go if it’s not successful then these will follow!
Iv been using Vinted more over ebay recently. Iv bought some jewellry items & sold clothing items with no issues. It's free to list & you pay no fees. The price you set is what you'll get. Iv found it pretty straightforward & easy to use.
I found communication with sellers was much better than ebay too.
Glitterandgold That’s useful insight, communication isn’t a strong point for eBay and even worse are those fees! It can be a waste of time selling on eBay once you deduct all of the fees and then you risk chargebacks etc as the buyer is king - Definitely a massive plus point for Vinted!
I will not say it is no good as although I downloaded the app, I have never used it. To be honest I didn't know where to start and I hate things where your privacy is compromised. I didn't find it as easy as they boast but that could be my age and that I don't use many apps. Why not download it, have a browse and see if it is for you. I ended up uninstalling mine.
Vinted is good if you are willing to post the items to people, which means you need to know how much postage to charge. If someone buys a lot of the clothes then the weight will add up and it could cost £10 upwards to post and people might not be willing to pay that. If you are just selling one or two items then postage won't be high. I have also found that on vinted people will try and haggle, which is fair enough but they are often rude about it. Also whilst they say the price you set is what you get, it is the same as any other marketplace, if people aren't willing to pay it then you will need to lower your prices.
I've been selling things online for years and I have always been more successful on fb marketplace than anywhere else.
My friends use vinted to sell, but they have complained recently about people wanting something for nothing, not wanting to pay postage and the hassle of sending parcels etc.
MrsCraig Thank you for this, I hadn’t really considered Facebook Marketplace before. Have always thought it would just be easier to sell - post - done!
Postage is one of those things that has always been an issue when selling online especially now that most websites offer free shipping. Buyers expect someone having a clear out to do the same but Royal Mail prices have just gone up and up!
I’m happy to haggle over prices within reason so will see how that goes and might look at alternative delivery options to Royal Mail (especially for multiple purchases/heavier items) it could be cheaper using one of the couriers on Mule.

UBDM I've made £100 on fb marketplace this week. For me it is more convenient as it tends to be local people buying so they pick up, which suits me better being a stay at home mum.
I've posted a few things before and people have always been happy to pay as it was never more than £3.50 and been worth it for the price I was asking.
If you are sending a lot of items at once then Hermes will be cheaper but could still cost £10 if it is a large parcel.
When I was on Vinted, I had people trying to offer me half of what I was asking and expecting postage to be included in the price, so just make sure that you either put the p&p costs into the price or say that it is separate.

i haven't used vinted myself but it seems to be heavily advertised , this thread has been great for advice so thanks it really does help to see others opinions.
Don't know 'bout selling, but I bought a game for £4.60 when it usually costs £12.50 on eBay.

Completely forgot about this thread until I got the notification today - I’ve had some success with Vinted, in fact cashed out £220 this week from about 14 sales over the past few weeks.
Like most online platforms I’ve encountered some lovely people but also some VERY rude members. I’m definitely a fan of using Hermes or inpost as you can drop these off at the lockers 24/7. Integrating those so that the buyer can purchase a shipping label when they buy something makes the whole process feel much easier.
You have to be careful that you’re selecting the appropriate postage size but the app helps you to do that - for individual items it’s hard to go too far wrong, but it does get trickier if using Royal Mail or creating larger bundles.
There does seem to be a strong culture of buyers wanting to haggle (which I have no issue with) BUT they will lowball you significantly, or you’ll accept an offer and they disappear. I encountered one issue with Hermes losing a parcel and it was all taken care of swiftly by Vinted who refunded the buyer and paid me out for the sale anyway.
All in all, I’d recommend giving it a shot - particularly if you’re not in a massive hurry to sell things or are happy to be flexible on the asking price. They have a lively forum too which is full of helpful members if you get stuck with anything.

Hermes isn't a company I'd personally use.
A family member received a box of food delivered by Hermes and a rat made a huge mess inside. It was all sticky too (rat urine? maybe).

I stopped using it due to rude people and very low offers.

I sold another little bundle today, it’s always nice getting those surprise sales and agree there are some rude buyers but I’ve also encountered some lovely ones. Hope you’ve managed to keep things moving on FB Marketplace, you were doing really well there!

Tried to sell clothes on there before but never sold them. Keep seeing adverts about Vinted so might try again.
Unfortunately it did not work for me. My daughter had loads of clothes she did not need anymore so I put them on the site. I sold a few bits but after postage costs I made pennies. I would rather give to a charity shop.
eyeballkerry That doesn’t sound right - On Vinted the buyer always pays for postage so you should always receive the total amount that they pay for an item. The watch out is making sure you select the right parcel size as you could get stung that way with Royal Mail, but otherwise you should generally be fine.
I recently bought a PS4 on Vinted which the seller gave no indication it was faulty, and it was once I tried to turn it on. And here's what she claims: "Hermes damaged it, not me. I don't do returns."
So, as she refuses, I contacted customer service and they've helped me out returning it.
No decent person with a good conscience would do this.
And on eBay, I also bought a console that was stated to be working, but actually isn't. Some bad luck this is.
