jam45 my family shopped at Debenhams a lot, everything was from when they had sales! They had half price sales even 70% off!! Plus if you were a member with them an extra 10 or 20% off too!

jam45 it’s a shame it closed down! Last time which is a few years ago I bought a bright pink handbag 👜 lol 😝 Kipling brand so got a monkey keyring with it

Couldn’t believe it used to cost £98!! 😱 got it reduced price at think 🤔 £29+ there was two bagsleft one of them the zip on front section didn’t zip up anymore

To this day there have been no problems at all! Very good quality and waterproof

Had a look on Amazon so many different styles but costs over £35!!

kitty88uk I tried ordering from Debenhams online and I can't be certain I will get what I have ordered, so I only look online and go in person to supermarkets (clothing dept) and B&M, etc

jam45 oh is that so! Is it your first time ordering with them online? If they aren’t right you then have to post the clothes back for refunds! Is it free to do so?

Kind of a hassle lol 😝 back then when you order online if need to return for refund easy to take back to shop!

Yeah even before Debenhams closed down I bought clothes from Sainsbury’s, always had half price sales even with 25% off on top of the sales offers!

Haven’t bought from the supermarket in a long while now

kitty88uk I normally buy my clothes from Asda sale from their stores. If it doesn't fit, I can return them without any hassle.

kitty88uk I need a new sofa. I used to go to Harveys Furniture shop to sit on them and feel the materials. I can only do this at Cousins and their price tag is out of my budget even in their so-called sales.

jam45 Omg 😱 that’s awful 😣 yeah our damn sofas 🛋 the seats have all sunken down! Pieces falling off pfft cause it’s plastic got the set of 3 from stupid dads uncle when I said don’t bother they won’t last long pfft didn’t listen 😠

Exactly it’s hard to buy furniture without going to see them in person in shop to sit on them so you know if comfortable or not and know the size and see what material is used to make them!

Yeah their so called sales are Damn ridiculously expensive!!

jam45 haha 😆 but are you still planning to buy new sofa? Wonder where else you can go into a shop and be able to take a look around, sit on them to try them out

It’s annoying right? All these shops closing down and other ones far away and too expensive

kitty88uk Thanks for asking. I am not into a hurry in buying a new sofa. I think I can go another year with this one and then it will need replacing.

jam45 it’s okay nice 😊 to chat 💬 with another member on here! I see yeah it’s still a lot of money buying a new sofa! I need a new mattress lol

Sofa we got from dads brother so rubbish needs to be thrown away too

Getting a new one for dining room and they can take 3 items to throw away free of charge I think so May get rid of a sofa in living room

No idea how to get that one out and get new one inside to dining room

kitty88uk Oh dear regarding getting your new sofa delivered in the near future. Harveys and Cousins have always asked us if we have the correct measurements for sofa, beds, dining table, etc and how to measure between the doors, etc.

As a kid I loved all the electrical stores like Rumbelows, Wigfalls, Lasky's, Dixons, Supreme, Comet etc. Just loved browsing the stores and seeing all the electronic stuff. Lots of it was British Made too, British made televisions, computers, appliances etc. A different world and stuff was expensive enough that you wouldn't buy it unless you really needed it. Nowadays we seem to buy so much stuff with a short life that ends up in landfill.

Emerge11 Carrefour opened in Britain? Never knew that.

Carrefour is massive in Spain and of course, in France (where it's originally from).

I really enjoy visiting Carrefour when I'm there as the stores are so big. 😆

For me, it'd be Woolworths, Blockbuster, Safeway (still exists in the U.S., I think), 7-11, and GameStation.

GAME is awful in comparison to what GameStation was and I'm surprised Mike Ashley hasn't gotten rid of it entirely. He probably will at some point.

I’ve just noticed that the program is 1 of 2 . I also miss majority of the shops you’ve mentioned. My number 1 is Woolworths like many of you but as a young girl at the time tammy girl and bay trading and top shop .It’s such a shame many of these places have gone from empty high streets.

like many others Woolworths was the main one I miss. C&A was one of the few places I could easily find clothes that I liked that were also affordable. Some of the larger record shops - Virgin megastore and HMV - although are some of these still around?

I was just about to answer Woolworths. However I can see that we are all on the same wavelength. I really don’t understand why they closed their doors, as they were popular and had been running for years .
