  1. JLouM I’m with you on them three. I still manage to visit to C&A when I go abroad. Not as cheap as it used to be.

As a kid I loved all the electrical stores like Rumbelows, Wigfalls, Lasky's, Dixons, Supreme, Comet etc. Just loved browsing the stores and seeing all the electronic stuff. Lots of it was British Made too, British made televisions, computers, appliances etc. A different world and stuff was expensive enough that you wouldn't buy it unless you really needed it. Nowadays we seem to buy so much stuff with a short life that ends up in landfill.

Emerge11 Carrefour opened in Britain? Never knew that.

Carrefour is massive in Spain and of course, in France (where it's originally from).

I really enjoy visiting Carrefour when I'm there as the stores are so big. 😆

For me, it'd be Woolworths, Blockbuster, Safeway (still exists in the U.S., I think), 7-11, and GameStation.

GAME is awful in comparison to what GameStation was and I'm surprised Mike Ashley hasn't gotten rid of it entirely. He probably will at some point.

I’ve just noticed that the program is 1 of 2 . I also miss majority of the shops you’ve mentioned. My number 1 is Woolworths like many of you but as a young girl at the time tammy girl and bay trading and top shop .It’s such a shame many of these places have gone from empty high streets.

like many others Woolworths was the main one I miss. C&A was one of the few places I could easily find clothes that I liked that were also affordable. Some of the larger record shops - Virgin megastore and HMV - although are some of these still around?

I was just about to answer Woolworths. However I can see that we are all on the same wavelength. I really don’t understand why they closed their doors, as they were popular and had been running for years .

For me it has to be Woolworths and Wellworths (think that was N.I only). Loved going in to these shops as a kid especially when they’d all the different counters for things and you bought from each section before they put cashier tills at front of store and you had to queue to pay for everything together. Loved the pick’n’mix but thought they were magical at Christmas

Are there any Mothercare shops any more? I used to love getting stuff for my baby boys in there.

Lynibis nope think it’s been gone for years now, my mum was looking for baby clothes just yesterday here in Leeds for her nephew who just had another baby, boy

We went to a few shops John Lewis, Boots and H&M cause they do some sales right now half price but either there’s pieces of clothing missing stolen at Boots or not the right sizes wanted to get bigger ones or out of stock

Baby clothes are really expensive at John Lewis

Lynibis ...I LOVED Mothercare, our daughter had some beautiful clothes from the Sheffield one including a lilac shower proof coat that when reversed it was a dark blue fleece, it cost us £18

I picked up the matching gloves & hat for £2.50 each at Mothercare Outlet instead of £9 each...

This was 20 years ago or more! Xx

janphoenix51 I remember the shop name not the shop itself so just kept thinking they sell baby clothes lol so they must have sold a lot of items including clothes and home items too? I must have been very young as I don’t remember it much

kitty88uk They sold more or less anything to do with baby care and young children. I could be wrong but Boots probably has a lot to do with their demise.

kitty88uk ...Mothercare sold baby & children's items, prams, high chairs, toys, baby & toddler clothes also powdered baby milk & other baby foods if I remember correctly...

Now Boots are stocking Mothercare items or you can shop on line..

I loved Mothercare, had some beautiful clothes from there including a tiny lemon outfit that was bought for our 5lb 1oz 9 days late daughter.. That outfit sits at the back of daughter's wardrobe to remind her of how tiny she was almost 26 years ago..x

Lynibis yeah that what I remembered as the name suggests lol 😝

Yeah I thought so too it had to do with Boots, was in there last Sunday mum looking for baby clothes for her nephews new born baby boy

There was sales but pieces of clothes missing stolen I went to ask they said can’t reduce the price

Years ago at they would have allowed a price reduction now they saying have to send it back

Got too hot 🥵 to be inside

Don’t understand why shops don’t have damn windows!!

Lynibis I know Keddies Farm well, It's about a mile from my house, and my Mum & Dad had their golden Wedding celebrations there.

I also go to the classic car show there every year, you can nip into the house for a cream tea of you have the need (and the money)
