Is It Too Soon for a Mince Pie?
Ask a Question
Is too soon for a mince pie?
There are still 99 days until Christmas, but mince pies are already popping up on supermarket shelves!
Christmas countdown started after our daughter 's birthday yesterday as there were 100 days starting from then..
I have seen Mince Pies in the shops for weeks & thought it was too early!
No it's not. I'm getting the bits in to make my mince meat. I like to leave it a while it works better that way
He he. No not at all. You can have them all year round if you really want to. A bit like hot cross buns at Easter but they are still around the rest of the year.
No it's not, but I don't know how you can eat them, they are horrible lol, I don't like them at all
martinlufc5637 my sons have said this all their lives (48 and 50) but last year they finally tried my frangipane ones and are now asking me to make them this year lol.
Lynibis lol, I have tried them a few times but I just can't eat them, same as Christmas pudding
martinlufc5637 it's strange isn't it, I like mince pies but not Christmas cake or pudding. Bit like marmite...love or hate. Found this pic from last year:
Lynibis I'm not going to lie, they look bang on, I think I married the wrong lady lol you'd have to eat Christmas cake though, with red cheese, delicious
martinlufc5637 ha ha! I would try that, used to have cheese and Apple or cheese and jam sarnies as a kid.
Mince pies like puppies are not just for Christmas. Hot cross buns are a year round food too, it's sad they are not readily available everywhere
I think with just 3 months until Christmas they are fine to have now. looking forward to the Morrisons Fresh Cream ones becoming available as they are lovely.
Never too early. It can't be anyway since they are being sold now and they have a best before date of October.
I can’t resist a warm mince pie. I’d happily make some and enjoy them but I’m trying to cut down sweet things.
I dunno I started eating them only last year cause I got a box free from the M&S advent giveaway lol
I’ve already started seeing Xmas items at Home Bargains back on the 8th whilst I was in town lol
If you fancy one then why not! personally I have never liked them but the Xmas chocolate is starting to line the shelves .
Definitely too soon for me. I may have one at Christmas but that’s about it. I never add anything to it either, prefer them warm
Never too early. I know they are an acquired taste but I love them. Have resisted so far this year tho
Definitely not my other half has bought them already but by Christmas he will be sick of them
Yes, but then again, anything goes. If you like them, you should be able to have them all year round
I don't like mince pies so won't be eating any. I have started to make a list of items to buy for Christmas and have been saving up since April so if you want a mince pie then go for it.
For me it's too soon for any Christmas things to be on sale. As for mince pies, I don't like them, and never have.
No, it’s never too early for a mince pie tbh i was finishing a box of last year last month. although I always get funny about hot cross buns and crème eggs being put out early so it’s really strange
Mince pies, no, not too early, because they are nice. But the whole xmas thing starting in August? Come on! Just no. I love xmas, but starting the whole thing so early makes it less special
I wouldn’t personally eat them, think they look nasty and thought of eating one too. Family members like them but probably more prefer mr Kipling Christmas slices.
All the Christmas foods are available in my local grocery shops. I don’t care - I won’t be buying them so it feels like they’ve wasted space
For me personally I don't really like seasonal foods too much. What I mean by that is, if i want a mince pie in the summer, I'd like to be able to buy one. I'm glad that hot cross buns have become more of a year round thing.
No! Get them mince pies into you! I would eat them all year round if they were available! I love them
The best mince pies are just after Christmas where they start clearing them out cheap. I think last year I got a few boxes for 15p each. Love them.
I think it is way to early . I haven't even had my birthday yet! Then there is Halloween and bonfire night. It takes the joy out of Christmas
I bought some last week and have had some over the last couple of days or so. I enjoy them so don't find it too early personally
Supermarkets ruin Christmas. It`s just greed now. Of course you`re going to buy them If they`re out. When I was working In a Supermarket Warehouse through Christmas. Easter Eggs would turn up In shippers. They then get stored on a racking ready to put out after Christmas sometime. Its really sad to think Christmas has not begun but Easter Eggs appear. It never used to be like this growing up.
If you like em..pile in.Not my favorite thing although I'll munch a couple at Christmas just to get into the festive spirit.
Thanks to this topic, I've made mh mincemeat. Just got to leave it. I like to give it a couple of months to brew. Ready for xmas
My mum loves Morrisons deep filled mince pies and waits all year for them to come back in season again so for my mum the answer is no it's never to early >.< for me as a Grinch yes it should be December starting.
