Sourdough Bread. Do You like?

Me and the OH recently tried sourdough bread for the first time. It was Tesco Finest and cost £1.80 for a 400g loaf.
I don't know what all the fuss is about. It absolutely stank and didn't taste that great. And as for the price.
I wouldn't buy it again, but do any of you like it?
I had Sour Dough Bread for the first time years ago & thought it was horrible!
On Wednesday our daughter & I took my partner out to celebrate his birthday, we had a lovely meal at Maisies in Portadown which consisted of a Mediterranean Bean Stew on Sour Dough Bread with Sea Bass & Salad, all chose the same meal with different sides & absolutely loved the food.
We all love our Irish Soda Bread & Wheaten Bread..

Also a Lidl with a toilet for customers!

We live in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, years ago in our local Morrisons my partner 's Irish mother used to be able to buy Butter Milk to make her own Soda Bread, that stopped & until last year in same shop I could buy Portadown company Irwins Soda Bread but now I can't. Morrisons would rather stock brand St Pierre' Croissant, Pain O Chocolat & Brioche..
More Irish families in the area than French, Catholic School our daughter went to up the road verifies that!
Only place I can get Soda Bread that I know of is Waitrose near Bramall Lane, they have Irwins Soda Bread, Potato Bread & other Irish bakery products...
In my opinion it comes under the umbrella of "the emperor's new clothes" . ... Only the brave say that it's horrible. I don't like the residual taste well after I've eaten it .
It has it's place.I like it warm with soup and butter but it's rubbish for toast and honey.
It's ok for some stuff but generally don't like it. My favourite bread is 'Tiger bread' which I believe is a dutch style bread but any of the normal breads you see I prefer to sourdough. I did have some soup with sourdough bread somewhere and it was quite nice but probably would have been a bit nicer with more standard bread. Lots of bread sold in so called bakeries for Lidls, Aldi, convenience stores and service stations uses parbaked bread which is half cooked chemically modified bread with extra yeast then frozen and then has the final cooking done instore where its presented as a fresh loaf but to be honest their prepacked loafs are much higher quality as don't have the extra yeast and chemicals. I wonder if you get parbaked sourdough breads as they are made a different way using a different yeast. Parbaked is best avoided so unless you have a larger Asda, Morrisons or Tesco that bake bread properly you are probably better off buying your bread prepacked from most supermarkets. Ultimately sourdough bread is both more expensive and inferior in quality which is how I prefer it so the product I prefer is actually the cheaper option.
BonzoBanana A lot of the supermarket sourdough were nicknamed 'sour-faux' because the preparation wasn't authentic. I believe that it was something to do with the starter they were using
I do like tiger bread. I think that it's brushed with sesame oil.
I love it , it's really nice toasted to. Not everyone can like the same things!
I don't like it at all, as the name suggests it is very sour and doesn't taste like bread.
Never tried it I've herd many fancy things including it but never been fussed to try, from these comments looks like I'm not missing much
I don’t mind it, but then again I only tend to buy it when I see it’s reduced. I tend to have it toasted with a load of cheese or butter over it
I'm not a massive fan. Our friend made us some and it was very nice enough but I certainly wouldn't pay the price the shops ask for it. I don't know any of my friends or family that buy it.
I like it but don't have it often. Tesco do a nice one with olives but not always available. I enjoy it mostly at Christmas time with some pate & chutneys, it's just with soups too.
Glitterandgold I've never liked olives. And I don't know how anyone can dip bread in small bowls of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. MrsChimp's side of the family like doing it though
I do like sourdough bread but it seems to be everywhere these days. It works well with certain foods but not everything has to be on sourdough
I do like wholemeal and rye sourdough bread a lot but only buy either when on offer.
I’ve gone low carb generally for about 10 months and non sourdough bread now really gives me stomach pains so I’m sticking it with it when I can. Love Lidl’s seeded sourdough loaf toasted with salted butter - I wait until after 7pm to get the 30% off voucher activated on my Lidl app and then slice it immediately and freeze half - it can go stale very quickly so toasting from frozen gets round that.
It's ok but a bit hit and miss between different stores and brands like everything I suppose, bought one from Tesco (pre packed) a few weeks back and it ended up in the food recycling . £4 a loaf off the stall in my local town
Depends on where you get it from. I get some locally made and it's lovely. Some I've had is horrible
Only tried it once, never again, it was awful, some people will eat anything lol it's not for me 
No way it’s a huge dislike, it’s nasty. Nothing wrong with a good old normal farmhouse loaf. I went for breakfast for my birthday morning and I caused a confusion as I wanted normal toast with it not sourdough like the menu.
