Do You Spend £170 on Groceries in One Go ?

That Is way too much money for my shopping. I normally spend about £35- £60 a week and that depends If I go to two shops. Even at Christmas that would be too much. Tesco`s Is expensive anyways. I shop around before I shop to get the best offers.

That's a very big spend, maybe if you do a monthly shop you would spend that much but we wouldn't have the room to store it all.

I regularly get £10 or £15 off £100 at Sainsbury’s and I just stock up on non-perishable or frozen offers but I’d struggle with £170 - maybe if you wanted an electrical item or some video games you could add to your shop to bump up but it is a particularly high amount for a supermarket

My sister in law spends £150-200 a week for her family with just 2 kids.

She’s a brand snob so will only buy Heinz etc. steak has to be fillet. She’s the supermarket’s wet dream of a customer.

She also wastes a horrendous amount of food as anything past its best before date goes straight in the bin, even if it’s perfectly fine to eat.

She says her husband earns good money so why should she feed her kids out of date food. Makes me so cross as she’s teaching them such a bad example.

The way food is creeping up in price I think some families will be spending that amount at Tesco's.

Nah not even close despite the increased prices of lots of staple foods

During lock down we used to go to Lidl and do a monthly shop so we could limit how often we needed to go out. We would do the monthly shop and it would cost us £200. That was for a month and we haven't done that since lock down. I don't spend anywhere near that a week. Even if I do a big shop when I get 10% off at Lidl and stock up on everything I'm nowhere near that amount.

You could stock up on toiletries, laundry products and toilet rolls.

I've been behind customers in the queue to the till in both Waitrose and M&S and some people's shops are ridiculously expensive. Typically they have a large amount of alcohol in the trolley as well as many premium items. I seem to remember one shop was over £300 and it wasn't a huge trolley full but it was a lot of alcohol.

I spend between 100-200 a week

I don't spernd that much but could. If I did I'd be buying bits to stock up such as big bags of pasta as I know in the long run I'd be saving money

I normally spend £220 a month on grocery shopping but it includes, toiletries, personal care items & alcohol as well as food. It lasts the month for 3 adults my daughter is now in her 20's; & if anyone visits we top up. So £73 per person per week.

We spending about £100 on food shopping at tescos but if the cost of living keeps going up we need them vouchers you got sent

I probably spend about £15 a week on food but you'd never know it to look at me. Basically my mother lives nearby and I'm always getting a free meal or two there. I also buy food and bring to her and treat her to meals out occasionally. Still being honest she definitely spends more on food for me than I do for her.

Blimey. We buy every 2 weeks and it’s around £100. Tho if I got that voucher I would prob stock up and bill order to get the discount.

No, I would never spend this amount in one go.I like to shop a little and often when I am on the look out for yellow stickers from which I have had some real bargains.Bread is a good one to watch out for.This goes straight in the freezer and then I just take out what I need.

£170 even with the price of things these days I wouldn't have space for that many groceries.

I think it depends on the size of the family. Babies and pets can easily push the amounts up. I do a big online monthly shop each payday and with price increases, kids & pets it's anything between £150-200

Wow, that seems a bit extreme. I sometimes try to hit the value of voucher by buying toilet rolls, washing powders etc but I would find it hard to spend that amount in one shop.

As there’s only two in the household, it’s normally a 3rd of that amount. Suppose I could try a monthly shop

Does it include alcohol? If you paired that offer with buy 6 or more bottles of wine - get 25% off, that's some pretty considerable savings. I would be tempted to do £85 on a big food shop and the other £85 on wines. Worth considering tesco also sells TV's, phones, homewares, garden equipment, and seasonal things like camping gear or Christmas decorations/gift sets etc.

Certainly worth it if you can use it on those things too

Yes I have done , but that was a big shop and lasted about a month and a half until I had to go back again.

I guess if you’re buying something like a electronic appliance there for example it might be worth it…. Or not !

No can't say i've ever spent that much on food. I average around £45 a week for 2 of us.

That is way too much even for a family. No people buy food in such a massive amount as they will expire and meanwhile occupying lots of space in storage at home.

We do a weekly shop at Tesco for two adults and we spend approx. £90-130 a week depending if household items/toiletries are required.

Does it include groceries only? If not, you can buy something more expensive like kitchen utensils, or maybe fill up your wine selection for the next party

I do if not more on a Tesco order. I do one every two weeks. That's for food, toiletries and cleaning products. Maybe also other items I might need at the time like toys. I don't go to many shops so nearly everything goes on the order I have delivered.
