How much do you spend on School Uniform?
Parents and carers spend an average of £422 on uniform if their kids are in High School.
My daughter will be starting Reception in September and I’m dreading the cost of the uniform. I’m keeping my ears open for the second hand clothing day that the school apparently run.
And I’ve just seen Aldi are doing some items at reasonable prices so I’m hoping to pick up some polo tops and skirts from there. Just hoping they are accepted by the school
snoogans888 It's cheaper when they are in Primary school, i'm dreading when mine goes to high school for the cost. School are only allowed to stipulate one piece of clothing to be branded which for ours is the jumper. Everything else can be gotten from Asda which helps.
My son is still in nursery, they do have nursery tops and jumpers they can wear. I got given some for free by the nursery and will give them back again when he grows out of them. I will be looking for 2nd hand uniform when he does go up to primary.
Yeah it’s a lot of money especially as kids can grow so quickly. I was glad to see shops like Aldi offering cheap school uniforms in these hard times
jms19 Aldi and Lidl are both doing a uniform bundle for £5 which is great!
My sons school changed uniform last year, his uniform isn't to bad apart from the blazer they have to wear in year 5 & 6. We buy jumpers from the supermarkets and pay £1.50 for the logo to be sewn on.
However my daughter starts in September this year and the girls wear either a red tartan pinafore (£26)or a skirt (£16) they have to be the school pattern it's not one you can get in supermarkets so it's about to get very expensive.
Midnightflower my school used to do a blue tartan skirt, but it wasn't compulsory. Most girls wore either trousers or a black skirt. I don't know many schools that insist the girls have to wear the schools skirt.
MrsCraig this one does unfortunately. It seems ridiculous considering how everyone has been saying that school uniform should be affordable and they made it more expensive.
Midnightflower very strange, every school I've worked in has a uniform but it's only compulsory to wear the jumpers and T-shirts.
Too much. Try to keep the cost down as much as I can as I have three children so when there is sales I try to get bits here and then.
Amylou88 Aldi and Lidl are both doing £5 Uniform bundles and M&S has 20% off their School Uniforms if it helps?
