when i worked in a chip shop a few years ago we used to have folded wet hand towels in the freezer then every 20 mins rub our heads with them. Didnt last long but was lovely whilst it lasted !
I just lie on the floor and wonder where my life went
But in all seriousness,
Just stay hydrated with plenty of water. Wear loose light clothing. Let your hair dry in the sun. And either open lots of windows or have fans passing cool air. Sometimes even putting some ice in a towel and using that to cool down helps (don't apply the ice directly to your skin, needs to be wrapped in something)
Have you seen the videos of people inside a duvet cover with the fan blowing i tried it and it gets quite chilly
I have just put several bottles of water with a bit of fruity flavour in the freezer for tomorrow. A big jug of water in the fridge too. Cooling gel mats and general sitting around in my pants. Then at some point in the day I sit under a large sun umbrella in the shade with the hose set to mist and point it upwards. Then to dry off I get inside a double duvet and point a large fan inside it so it makes a cooling tent. Constantly dreaming of winter.
I posted a deal today for a micro towel. If you get it wet, wring it then drape around your neck. It helps to keep you cool.
After sweating like a pig (not that I've ever seen a pig sweat ) from working at the farm, I took a shower and now I'm cool (in terms of temperature of course, and mood too, heh).
mist spray bottles, a flannel that I can wet and wash my face/head with and drinking plenty of cold liquids. When it gets really hot I sleep outside in the back garden
In the hottest weather I wrap an ice cube or 2 in a flannel and wipe my face with it. If you have a fan as well it really cools you down. Only lasts a little while though. Open windows when heat of day has gone and get through draft if possible.
I suffer with menopause so these hot night are a nightmare I have a cooling mat under my sheets this helps me loads and also have one for my chair during the day
jigsawx3x I hear you on this. I bought a towel that you wet and then activate it by stretching it and it activates something to make it really cold. Put it on the back of your neck like a scarf. I constantly use mine especially at night
Go into any supermarket and pretend to be buying or reading the labels in the freezer or refrigerator aisle. It works for me.
Think how the poor people stayed cool In June of 1974 when they had the hottest year with Its heatwave. I think It was 36 degrees. I just watched a documentary on It. Why complain now when what they encountered!
Emerge11 ...I watched that with my service users last Saturday, all of us are old enough to remember that heatwave & the slogan ...Look on the bright side ,the bright side of '76
LouiseHemmings We do that & partner, daughter & I all have fans that clip to our bed & you charge up..
Dreading the hot weather and heatwave days!!
You want to shower to cool down but with using cold water after it just makes you more hotter !!
I don’t like drying my hair either cause makes you even more hotter too!
But leaving it to air dry takes a while too
