Best thing to keep you house cool is to have your Windows open from sundown until the sun hits your window.

Another tip is to hang your laundry in the house to drip dry and have a fan near it so the coolness coming from your clothing will cool the place down

I have struggled to sleep for quite a few years now when it's really hot. I had ceiling fans put up in the bedrooms and also have portable fans but can't stand any noise when i'm trying to sleep so currently also looking at ear plugs lol. I can't have the windows open as there's a road nearby and I can hear the cars. But in all honestly the fans still aren't helping me sleep, I am restless all night, just tossing and turning. I've seen people talk about cooling mats or damp wet towel around the neck but yet to try these.

One thing that works really well, put a fan inside a window on the hot/sunny side of the house, blowing out, will pull more cold air in through open windows on cold side of house. While pushing out the hot air.

  • My husband uses freezer gel packs if he’s suffered a sports injury and the other night he wrapped a couple of them and balanced them on my swollen feet, bliss.

Sleep In the lowest of tog duvets or just sleep In a sheet. I work nights so can you Imagine sleeping during the day. It works for me with the lowest tog. Leave your window open too and shut your curtains but not all the way.

If you're out during the day, keep your curtains closed to keep the room cool. After sunset, put bedroom window on ventilation and leave the door open to keep cooler air circulating. Cool your whole body down quickly with a cold gel pack on your wrists and sides of your neck. Can't sleep? Spray your body with a home made body mist (cool or iced water ideally mixed with a calming essential oil like Lavender) 😃

I use a meaco air circulator, I keep it on all day and night. It costs next to nothing to run. It's so quiet. I would highly recommend it.

We leave all curtains , black out blinds and windows shut in sun light hours . And open windows when the sun is gone. Our house is nice and cool. Just a bit dark but we're getting used to being on the dark now 😃

Cotton sheets,, are cool, but I wear a cotton nightdress and sleep on top of the bed, and sleep until morning, no problem at all, Its ok to open the window at night once the lights are out, otherwise, have a light on, and window open, thats asking for trouble unless you like all the little critters that want to come in and bite you all over. I don't open windows when the sun is up as it draws the heat in. and I do shut the blinds when the sun is shinning in the bedroom.

I have tried everything, windows open, windows closed, fans, cooling blankets. Nothing worked. Then my daughter purchased me cooling socks and mittens. This was to help my arthritis but I actually sleep in them now and they help me. Especially the mitten as I put my hand in cooled mitten then put hand on side of face and neck to sleep. Zzzzzzz

I did try the suggestion of freezing a bottle of water and then putting the frozen bottle infront of the fan. It did make a slight difference but not enough to justify the effort imo
