Would You Steal Toilet Roll from Work?
Ask a Question
We’re asking if it’s wrong to take toilet roll from work, after a police officer was found guilty of misconduct for doing just that.
What are your thoughts?
I think it is wrong really yeah, stealing is stealing and it costs money to replace. I mean taking the odd roll if you know you have none at home and have no time to go and get some is one thing, but to repeatedly take stuff is bad.
Wrong to steal even small things like toilet rolls, but just tell the employee that it's not acceptable or a verbal warning is sufficient if it's a small minor thing, no need to go over the top with misconduct proceedings initially.
I hardly think taking a toilet roll should be a misconduct offence. The police need to catch criminals rather than investigating missing loo rolls. Yes it’s considered stealing but come on…….
Technical it is still stealing albeit a little petty especially for a toilet roll and I do think a misconduct is probably a little far if I’m being honest
No. I cannot understand people that do this. In a previous employment someone nicked the company Christmas tree
No.Certainly not.Nothing worse then when you are in a clean up situation and some git has stolen the last of the bog roll. The world over there's people pinching the toilet paper leaving people in some very compromising situations. It's the Eighth Commandment.Thou shalt not steal innit?
Can't say I ever felt the need too, I was once on a job and place we were at had yellow pages as toilet roll lol on string too
YES, not from work but I do take a few sheets when I'm out & about to compensate for the toilets that have NO toilet roll in.
I make sure there is plenty left for other people though..
Why would anyone need to steal toilet roll from work. Most shops sell it as it’s a necessity. I do remember my old lodger used to pinch rolls from the pub baskets, she was a wrongen .
It is theft pure and simple. In most case you would hope that the first time someone was caught a warning would be given though. Having said that in the case mentioned he was a cop - so I think he should be held to a higher standard.
Yes it’s wrong. It’s to be used at work otherwise it is stealing. What if everyone did it? You wouldn’t be able to do your job.
I would never have done this, anyway the toilet rolls we had at work were very thin and nasty.
Bring back Izal toilet paper, you would have needed to be a M"sochist to steal and use that
Sandpaper was preferable
telmel ...I worked as a Carer for this old man in his 80's about 9 years ago & in his downstairs toilet he had a roll of IZAL toilet paper hung up & his usual soft white toilet paper. The man had the usual soft white toilet paper in his upstairs bathroom .
Man' son was a PCSO who had won an award!
I work for my daughter so 100% no, I would not steal anything from work. But saying that she gives me loads of things.
Assuming it would fall under misconduct in public office. Imagine getting a life sentence for nicking toilet rolls
I actually take my own ‘quilted’ roll with me to work. I have sensitive skin so only mine will do.
Absolutely ridiculous... Haven't they got bigger crimes to concentrate on like people writing non PC faceache posts.. But no they'd rather dedicate they're hard time on people nicking a bog-roll? Mind blowing Welcome to 2024/25 policing
