Supermarket Prices July 2024 Analysis

Latest Deals

Hello Deal Hunters!

Using the Latest Deals supermarket price comparison tool, we track the online prices of the 20 most-commonly bought products at a range of supermarkets (the cheapest option of each product of the same size).

Here you can see the price changes at

  • Aldi
  • ASDA
  • Iceland
  • Morrisons
  • Sainsbury's
  • Tesco
  • Waitrose

Each month we will be sharing a review of the price changes we find. This may be helpful for Deal Hunters as it informs you as to which supermarket may be increasing prices the most.

Here it is for July 2024:

FAQs

What about Lidl, Co-Op, Savers, Poundland etc.?

We don't track these places at present. We may do in future.

What products do you track?

We don't want to say exactly what products for a variety of reasons, but it is a common basket of goods that form the 20 most bought products. We find the cheapest available option for the same size.

Iceland seems wrong, it's not that expensive

Iceland is a unique supermarket because it doesn't sell much of it's own brand goods. Basic items, such as those we tend to collect data on, tend to be more expensive at Iceland. Iceland does sell other items, such as large packs of frozen meat, at cheaper prices than other supermarkets - however we don't necessarily track all those product prices for the purposes of this.

As ever remember this analysis doesn't say which items are compared. You may find other supermarkets are actually cheaper for you, they may have a wider range of goods you buy, you may prefer the quality and you may be able to do a full shop there saving time and fuel costs. Also Lidl and Aldi have a higher percentage of imported goods and their profits go out of the country so it causes more economic damage to the UK and rising debts levels which could effect you indirectly.

I really don't see the point of this tracking just 20 unknown items when an average supermarket has between 25000 -35000 products on their shelves ,

Still no sign of Lidls being included. Surely this supermarket needs to be on this list as it's so popular or are Aldi's giving an incentive for Latest Deals not to? No offence intended but it's looking a bit biased.

I usually go to Sainsbury's as my go-to option for grocery shopping. I'm satisfied with the prices and they have the items I wanted to buy.

Oh, and I always use a human till. They won't get me to use the self-checkout tills (unless I only had 1 or 2 items).
