Using the Latest Deals Supermarket Price Comparison tool, we track the online prices of the 20 most-commonly bought products at a range of supermarkets (the cheapest option of each product of the same size).

We don't track these places at present. We may do in future.
- What products do you track?
We don't want to say exactly what products for a variety of reasons, but it is a common basket of goods that form the 20 most bought products. We find the cheapest available option for the same size.
- Iceland seems wrong, it's not that expensive
Iceland is a unique supermarket because it doesn't sell much of it's own brand goods. Basic items, such as those we tend to collect data on, tend to be more expensive at Iceland. Iceland does sell other items, such as large packs of frozen meat, at cheaper prices than other supermarkets - however we don't necessarily track all those product prices for the purposes of this.

Not surprisingly Aldi cheapest, but Sainsbury's next cheapest? That is amazing , very interesting to see this table
I noticed in sainsburys today that the large blocks of 500g butter have gone down by 24p today, so hopefully we'll start seeing food prices coming down a bit.
This is meaningless without knowing the items. In farmfoods 250g blocks of butter are £1.29. Aldi is next door in Yeovil and it was £1.89 there I think. I noticed they had their version of weetabix for £1.99 (36 biscuits) I think it was but in Tesco and some other supermarkets you pay about 75p for 24 biscuits. There are quite a few items in Aldi that are considerably more expensive than other supermarkets and also sometimes much inferior quality. Also their banana's are absolute crap, tiny little things mostly and they look pretty rough a lot of the time. The stuff I buy I generally find Tesco and Asda the cheapest but I tend to wait for vouchers and Sainsburys have just sent me £4.50 off £30 shop vouchers so will make use of a few of those. That is effectively a 15% saving on their current prices if I only spend £30 or close to it. So Sainsburys will definitely be cheaper for me at the moment.
As I said without knowing the items in this comparison its meaningless as it could be biased towards a supermarket and if those items are not items I buy what is the point of the comparison for me.
