Sushi. Are You a Fan?
Ask a Question
We tried sushi for the first time today and I really didn't enjoy it. And it's so expensive.
I just had some raw salmon and I was nearly sick in my mouth.
Does anyone here on LD like it?
Yeah i do like sushi quite a lot but the salmon on rice one isn’t my favourite. It’s not the cheapest though i agree
Nope. Wouldn’t touch it. I do like smoked salmon in sandwiches though with lemon or on starter melon. I didn’t like it the first time but acquired the taste after 2-3 times and really like it now.
I do like it but think it's an acquired taste! True - can be expensive. Prefer to make it myself
My husband loves it but not me. The best dish for cold rice is in rice pudding not served with raw fish.
Tried it once , I didn't like it, if fish hasn't battered on, and it's not from a chippy I'm not eating it lol
I prefer kimbap over sushi - it’s the Korean version which usually has meat, which I think goes better. I prefer sashimi over sushi - I appreciate the concept and the art, but it’s not for me
hspexy I didn't know kimbap is the 'korean' version. I had thought sushi referred to raw seafood types of food and that Japan had their version of seaweed rice roll - I didn't realise it's also referred to as sushi.
In kdramas, sometimes they go to raw seafood restaurants, where there's giant plates of just raw seafood - I thought that was their sushi.
I like it occasionally with that hot green wasabi paste , but prefer chinese and indian food
I tried it once and got food poisoning so never again for me especially as I didn't really enjoy eating it anyway taste wise.
Not for me at all. I think it's a bit of a fad at the moment and will pass like most thing's
I absolutely love sushi. I recommend you try again. The word sushi actually means sour rice and it’s not the raw fish. Try vegetarian ones or chicken ones. The best ones are on the counter in Waitrose and sometimes they let you try before you buy.
No I am not a fan of sushi. I have never tried it and never would. It's just another overpriced fad which has taken off in the UK for those who want to appear different and have something to talk about. I am sure that some people do actually love it, but come on it's a perfect thing for attention seekers.
I'm not a sushi fan, never have been. My husband enjoys it though. He will buy it from Lidl when he sees it reduced but doesn't pay full price for it.
Not for me raw fish, thou they do also do a plant/vegetable based version and some of that is quite nice.
LL81 Sushi means rice not raw fish. You can get vegetarian ones but my favourite is a spicy chicken one they do on the Waitrose counter.
eyeballkerry I can’t eat anything spicy even a spec of black cracked pepper set my mouth on fire.. very delicate palette
I bought a sushi making kit from Amazon and make my own homemade sushi. The family like the homemade sushi as I make it with different fillings. It can be a faff to make sometimes, so I make the sushi about once a month.
Sugarbabe Well done you. I absolutely love sushi but can be expensive. I will definitely look at getting a kit. I think my daughter would enjoy making it.
I'm not a fan of Sushi and must admit I haven't tried it but know I wouldn't like it, gag at the thought.
This is my sushi I purchased yesterday. My favourite was the spicy prawn dragon rolls. Was not keen on the salmon one, was really fishy.
eyeballkerry ooh they looks delicious haha I’ve been craving for sushi !! Where are these from Sainsbury’s, M&S or Waitrose? The brand name I’ve seen it before but can’t remember from which supermarket
I can't say I have really tried it because the thought doesn't appeal. However I do lIke a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich.
I love sushi. Sainsburys include sushi as part of their £3.75 and £5 meal deals. So, you can get a sushi tray, drink, and snack for £3.75 or £5 for the upgraded deal. As far as I know, sainsburys is the only major supermarket to offer it in the meal deal
I'd like to like it since it's probably pretty healthy in terms of the seaweed, but I really don't like seaweed or raw foods.
I had raw salmon Tesco sandwich once - the tiny bite test of raw fish texture was too slimey and chewy, I think I just skipped the chewing and microwaved the rest of it.
I absolutely love it but don't have it as nearly as much as I would like as my partner is not a huge fan of cold food. I love seafood though so that probably helps as to why I like it so much
reannsgran We had a good selection through To Go To Go, but it was all tasteless. And don't talk to me about the raw salmon
