Is Takeaway Coffee worth the Cost?
Ask a Question
Is takeaway coffee really worth the money?
With 30,000 coffee shops across the UK, we drink 98 million cups a day! Millennials spend an average of £728 a year on high street coffee, compared to baby boomers' £260. Are those daily cups worth the price?
It is very rare that we visit a coffee shop. If we are on holiday then we perhaps go out for a coffee. We go to coffee shops 4 times a year at most. I just can't justify spending that much money on it when I can make it at home.
I see it as a treat. So not every day but if I happen to be out then it’s nice to be able to get one but I prefer to sit in.
I love the coffee from Costa but last time I got one was when my boss gave me a voucher. Too expensive sadly I'd rather do something fun with my kids
I think it’s nice to grab a coffee when you’re out now and again. But I wouldn’t buy one everyday
I don't get takeaway coffee often we normally have it in and that's still a treat. We normally don't bother with them mainly have them on holidays
I often go into Wetherspoons and have a coffee, its something like £1.49 but you get free refills and I typically get 2 or 3 refills so only 40 to 50p per drink. I also have my Greggs free coffee from Octopus energy per week and recently a new Costa next to our Morrisons so there was a 2 for 1 offer which I made use of twice. I do occasionally go to Costa and pay full price although sometimes its paying with a giftcard that was bought at a discount. Wetherspoons is definitely worth it, great value if you make use of the free refills.
Nope don’t buy any lol I only get the free hot drinks when o2 priority give them away, I always get them when I’m in town on a Sundays
I am amazed about the amount people drink coffee these days. I personally do not like coffee. My husband picks up his free one from Waitrose when we go.
I enjoy going to cafes. I really like coffee, but it's more than just getting a drink. It's time to relax, or a place to meet friends or simply offers a space to get some work done.
I thought I had enough points on my costa card the other week to get a free one. Nope. I had to buy one as I was standing there in the queue and felt embarassed when I was told no. I've won a few gift cards for there, so I hadn't bought a coffee there since last year. If I knew I didn't have enough points, I wouldn't have gone there. The price is too high.
No i wouldn’t get a takeaway coffee, if I was to have a coffee out I would want to sit and chat or relax. I don’t think it’s worth getting a coffee to takeaway unless on the odd occasion and needs must get coffee fix.
I can’t believe how many people use the Costa at work. We have free milk and a kettle but people still buy their tea or coffee twice a day From Costa
Well I have just in the last week got a free cafe nero coffee having purchased. 9 at a cost of over £30, mad when you add up...
A chap where I work buys 3-4 a day, even thou we are supplied with free Tea, Coffee, Squash and Biscuits. Must cost him in the region of £70 per week , just because has these flavoured syrups added. I'll stick with my Free Gold Blend coffee .
Not really but am sure we would avoid the ridiculous prices if we could.
For those who really need to can maybe sign up to rewards so after so many purchases if you can get any free coffees then that could help.
I never go to coffee shops. I wouldn't pay their prices, especially some, like Costa. I prefer my coffee made at home anyway.
I buy a "discounted" coffee in my work café for £3 (using my reusable cup) once a month. It really helps perk me up on my days in the office when I've a long commute.
I no longer drink coffee but do when I remember grab a cup of tea from Costa/Greggs using my free drink from Octopus.
I'll admit I buy a couple of coffees each week. Not everyday, but probably 2 or 3 times a week. Usually Costa or mcdonalds. Not a fan of greggs coffees. My OH buys probably that a day, he travels alot each day & it's convenient. Not added up how much we spend tbh
I only drink coffee, I don't like tea, I've never been in a coffee shop lol and I certainly wouldn't pay £5 for one, not a chance
I wouldnt buy one every day but when I do its for the experience- where else can you sit with a friend, get your drink brought to you and sit there for hours in a calm enviroment on comfy chairs?
I have Costa Coffee as a treat with my partner & daughter, on odd occasion with friends but I agree it's expensive but Starbucks is MORE expensive...
I like to go to Wetherspoons if I want a cheap meal out, I like the buildings Wetherspoons are in too..
I also like the Lavazza Coffee..
I can get Chocolate Sprinkles on my Cappuccino most times unlike some up market Coffee Shops!
I usually have around 2 cups...
I'd say yes, I dont have one that often its definitely a treat but its also SOOO much nicer than any coffee I make at home! We could buy a machine but then they're expensive too? so a coffee once in a while I think is worth the price!
No, it’s not how I choose to spend my money, but I know loads who need their cups of coffee. Each to their own
