Tesco Taking the P*ss

I can't put the whole pic up because Kelsey will not sort the Android app out.
Anyway, aren't all tomatoes grown on the vine'?
What am I missing?
I think tomatoes ripen differently when still attached to the vine so I think if you leave the tomatoes attached to the vine and harvest them when just turning yellow etc you can factor in the journey time to the shop as the ripening time so in theory fresher. Where as tomatoes without attachment to the vine will be red when packed and therefore in theory less fresh in the shop as they would have degraded slightly. I suppose another way of thinking about it is when a tomato is removed from the vine where the vine was attached now leaves an opening for bacteria to enter the tomato but with the vine still attached that entry is sealed.
In my opinion tomatoes attached to the vine are fresher but not as fresh as locally produced tomatoes perhaps from a greenhouse etc. Those are fresher and nicer in my opinion. It really depends on the time between being picked and being used by the consumer.
Also why mention Tesco as such tomatoes on the vine are sold everywhere? It's not just Tesco's.
I don’t know but I love these tomatoes, they seem riper and juicier than the cheaper ones. I only buy these but my husband likes cheaper varieties.
I would pick them on the vine at this price. I would also by dirt covered carrots and potatoes.
Vine ripened tomatoes always have much more flavour and taste much fresher than 1s not on the vine
I agree with the others who say vine ripen tomatoes seem to have more flavour and generally sweeter. That price is an absolute bargain.
Ummm I could do with some of those now. I think it's a great price for them. I can almost smell them it's sooo good
agree these are very nice tomatoes - when you can get them. as with many salad items availability is a bit hit or miss. Well worth getting them at this price though!
