Did You Get a Tesco Xmas Delivery Slot?

Ask a Question

Tesco made Xmas delivery slots available at 6am this morning. Our alarm went off at 5:30am and MrsChimp got up to make us coffees so that I'd be awake enough for the off.

Got online at ONE SECOND PAST 6 and found myself in a queue with a waiting time of over an hour. By the time it was my turn (105 minutes later), the latest slot I could book was on the 22nd. We're not having Xmas dinner until Boxing Day so I hope the meat keeps.

Were you up at stupid o'clock ready to jockey for position in the queue? Did you manage to get a slot?

Can you do a click and collect instead? That way if you get subs you are at the shop to get any you don't want. I never get a delivery Christmas week as too much out of stock and weird subs. Good luck!

emmabeckz The store is a bit out of the way for us, so it would be a pain to do C+C. We have Aldi and Lidl a mile down the road, so if anything isn't available or is a bad sub, we can pop down there if needs be.

TheChimp Ahh ok we spend an hour trying to get out the carpark at Christmas - chaos they have marshals with batons as well 😆

emmabeckz I wouldn't be able to cope. Just the thought of all the people, screaming kids and queues makes me shudder

emmabeckz I find I get weird subs all year round not just Christmas time 😂. They should give you a sub option to say like no subs if out of stock etc

xKJG93 I know I get some weird stuff - ordered a Halloween light up Pumpkin for £3 they subbed with £10 Halloween fairy string lights. I would love the option to pick an alternative like you don't have this can I have this or nothing oh well!

emmabeckz least you got something that was more valuable. Yeah agreed. They either need to have an option to tick for no substitutes or give you a little list to say ‘substitute for this’ etc

emmabeckz and half the time the sub items aren’t even anything remotely the same or close to the same flavour etc

I am up about 3am daily anyway but I set the kitchen alarm to go off at 20 to 6. I logged in a couple of minutes later and joined the queue. It was all over by 6.30 and I had booked the 4 slots I wanted over Christmas.

I've got Asda vouchers to use this year. I did a secret shopper when my car went for its service and got £75 in vouchers as a thank you so they will pay for the food this year. I don't mind going into the shops to get stuff. I sometimes go in November, buy what I want and freeze it. Then just defrost.

Almost 2 hours in a queue for a shopping delivery slot! I think id much rather just go to the shops myself as long as i were able to

I don’t bother with Christmas deliveries anymore. Half the stuff is always missing and you have to go to the shop anyway

Didn't even try tbh. I do prefer Tesco but couldn't be fussed with waiting in a queue only to find the day I want wasn't available for delivery. Last year we did click n collect and got stuck in the car park for almost 2 hours trying to get out. It was insane. Opted for Asda this year, will walk into Tesco if need any other bits I can't get at Asda.
