A Thread for Members to Help Each Other
Latest Deals
Ok so a few members are struggling to work there way around latest deals
Yes there are help and guild line sections, but maybe we could help some out by them replying in this chat
davidstockport do you think this be ok with the team if not Tom I don’t mind it being removed
Mctash you can use this for members to help
Sorry I think it'll just get filled up with moans , and "where is the *** I ordered from you " . A member can post a question as it stands or put in a question to the team via "contact us ".
Besides which many members will just post pointless questions and comments , just for the points -as we well know ..
Golfforall yeah some may do that but I will ignore that sort of question it’s a suggestion it may work may not
Ann1984 You may , but many others won't . Just opens up another can of worms . Though I accept your intentions are good .
The guides are there to help everyone but please remember if it’s an account specific request, please email us as they won’t be able to get answered here.
Also, when a post is moderated, please look at the reasons why - they usually tell you what’s wrong with the post and why it’s been moderated.
For example -
Duplicate posted already and you’ll get the link
that it’s a duplicate of
Expired - Out of stock or no longer that price etc
Missing price - no price
Does not take you direct to deal or link broken - links broken or you’ve posted a wrong link
Title does not provide sufficient detail - Eg Great Deal - you need to post clearly what it is in the title
Hi Ann1984 I just seen this topic I think it’s a good idea as longer some users don’t take it seriously otherwise I am pleased with your topic take care and good night dear
I think certain threads should be pinned, so whenever new members come to the chat to ask commonly asked questions, they will already find the answers they need up the top of the list of topics.
I'm pretty sure we don't want anything "pinned" on the Chat page , think about it ? Most members only look at the first page whether its chat or deals so like the deals popular page when too many deals are "pinned" new deals drop off the first page never to be seen again .
Besides which though helping fellow members is great , too many members "think" they know the question or the answer (but very rarely do , leading to even more confusion !) ) .
New members, or members having problems should use the tools provided already on the site , and please no more "pinning " on the site .
What a good idea. That would have been a helpful thing when I was starting out on LD. Has Tom seen this suggestion?
Thank you for your Chat post. Any help given to fellow members is always appreciated! It helps so much.
For any new members reading this...
- There is a Welcome video in your Dashboard explaining how the site works
- After you create your account, you will see a Start Guide. Follow the steps to learn the basics.
- After you post your first deal, I always comment to share some tips and tricks to help you get started and some more information about points.
- If you get stuck, go to the Help page and ask your question. We have almost 100 step-by-step tutorials. Just ask your question.
- If you want to learn all the rules please read our Guidelines.
- If your post or comment goes into moderation we will explain why with step-by-step instructions on how to fix it if possible. Just read your Notifications.
But the best way to learn is just to try things out! You won't get in trouble if you do something wrong We're a nice bunch and always try to help.
It might help some to know that the HELP PAGE you refer to can be found (when your link above is not available) by going to the bottom of any page and clicking on the GET HELP link in the right hand column.
It can be a little difficult to find, it's down where "Chat Guidelines" etc. are and many members have never been down there
I do actually think there is already enough help available for new members, but unfortunately some new members just don't take any notice of advice readily available or they've asked for and been given.
It takes time for anyone to learn their way around any website, there are some here (including myself) who have been here for years and don't know everything about this site.
Perhaps the best advice for some new members would be; "don't try to run before you can walk".
davidstockport yeah there is plenty of help I agree available. My mother in law always says don’t run before you can walk. Yesterday a thread was being off topic which we both tried to help. My answer would of been if can’t work my way round even with help I would just sit back and enjoy the deals posted here by other members.
Ann1984 It might amuse some (I found it funny) I advised someone not to use initials instead of words when they had used an acronym I had never encountered and couldn't find on the web. They replied TYSVM.
(at least they're polite) It means "thank you so very much" but it can be used sarcastically (which I'm sure it wasn't).
