Trip to London
Ask a Question
If you had a few days in London where would you go? Places to eat as a family, things to do. Places to see
Depends what you want. We have been to Tower of London in past (but that was when they did Clubcard). McDonalds is cheap to eat unless you want something more restaurant like then I would probably just go to a pizza chain or something. We have been over the millennium bridge to the art galleries (free admission). Just shopping in Oxford/Regent Street. Theatres if you have the money. I haven’t been for a few years now. John Lewis has cafe and there is a nearby colourful cake shop according to my niece who went there quite recently.
I used to go to London fairly frequently when there was rail ticket offers but nowadays the pricing is just ridiculous. So much to see and do in London its really about what appeals to you. Fantastic museums, shops and sights to see. The Tube is very reasonably priced last time I went at least. I enjoyed just walking around London and seeing the sites too.
There are also lots of ideas on this old chat topic >> www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/free-london
Went to London last month and did the London eye for the first time (got some free tickets the the sun newspaper) and that was good, though i don’t think i’d pay the £30 a ticket admission charge.
We also did a few of the free galleries which were really great and then also the natural history museum.
Other than that I’d really like to go to Kew gardens.
I haven't been for a few years now J , the last time was when i won a comp to stay in London in a hotel overlooking big ben , i forget which one now but it was 5 star, and went to the shrek experience as it was part of the prize, it was more for kids but still enjoyable
I would recommend the open top tourist bus, hop on hop off to see everything , especially in the warmer months, the cheapest way to see most of the iconic places
Are you Christian or just like visiting churches? The Catholic ones are gorgeous, but I'll admit the Anglican churches tend to look very good, too. I used to go to an Anglican church and then decided I had joined the wrong one (they have some similarities with Catholicism) and am on my way to becoming a Catholic.
I was at Corpus Christi yesterday and I loved it, it was my second time though I'll be going every Monday that I can.
I'd suggest also visiting Synagogues if interested and if they allow you (something about only those who are Jewish are permitted). I tried visiting one and no go.
Loads of places to visit in London, London eye, tower of London ect...
just make sure you take plenty of money
A river trip .Greenwich(The Painted Hall) to Battersea Power Station. Houses Of Parliament,St Pauls Cathedral..a Jack the Ripper walk..A West End show..loads besides.
Last time we visited London we booked a river cruise with meal included, it was very nice and from there walked to The Shard, lovely day out.
Rather than purchase overpriced tickets for The Shard you can visit the viewing platform at Horizon 22 (22 Bishopsgate, London EC2N 4AJ) for free. But, you do need to pre-book time slot tickets horizon22.co.uk/ Has great views across London.
For a sweet treat you could try La Maritxu. They only sell one type of authentic Basque Cheesecake (along with drinks). Delicious! They have recently opened a second store near Carnaby Street. Their original store is just off Edgware Road - www.lamaritxucheesecake.co.uk/
So much to choose from really depend what you like. Make it cheaper and head to the museums. Always look out for vouchers and special offers.
I would go to places like the Natural History and Science Museums. Take a tourist bus tour and probably eat in filling food places like Nando's, Pizza Hut or Zizzi's
