Tui Do Not Use Their Support is Awful

Other

We went on holiday and use tui. Would not recommend using them. They were horrendous. The hotel was hasn't been decorated since the 80s and the front door had gaps all the way round it bar where the lock was. Some look like they had been kicked in. Rust in the bathroom smelt damp, of industrial laundry and sewage. Cupboard doors broken. Brown water that apparently couldn't be used for hygiene reasons let alone drinking. What tipped me was cockroaches coming in through the pipes in the bathroom. Tui wasn't interested. Asked to be moved told us it would take 2t-48 hours then moved the goal posts to 48-73 hours and told me the first was wrong and policy is 48-73 hours. Only moved us at our cost sooner as in less then a day because I demanded to be moved or be flown home and refunded and mentioned I'd spoken with my sil who is a lawyer. They wanted to charge us a night at the old hotel citing we'd missed check out. It was 10.30 we were packed as told we would have to vacate the room for disinfection and check out was 11.

Now some of what happened if it was only the keycards not working we'd have sucked it up. Same as bathroom door being broken and the 1980s decor. Sofa bed was a solid sofa I couldn't sit on let alone expect someone to lie on. My oh also got sick possibly from the food as it was awful. I'm no snob but felt safer sleeping at reading and Donnington festivals then in that hotel.

Oh my goodness, I thought TUI was one of the good ones. What sort of holiday was it and where did you go? It sounds a holiday from hell.

JLouM Tenerife. Hotel was 3 star. Now I know 3 star uk isn't 3 star Tenerife but this was 1 star. I've stayed in £100 for a weekend places before that were grim but not as grim as this place. I'm talking if 2 are in a bed who's next to the wall has to climb over the other person to get to bathroom which isn't a step away from the bed and you can literally sit on the loo and shower. Difference is we knew it was going tk be a hovel. We spent £3500 on this. That's a quarter of my yearly wage. Wasn't expecting 5 star but expecting better then what I got. We don't go to high as the hotel is meant to be a base as we are interested in learning about where are not just sitting by the pool

Jerseydrew Ah I have never been to Tenerife and to be honest never appealed to me or Turkey. I’m not sure how you booked it but if their description is completely off try to formally complain and see If you can get at least some compensation. I know the holiday is ruined though. I once went on a pot luck deal- they were Thompson in those days and that was hell in Rhodes. I’ve talked about it before so won’t go into again. It was a pot luck arrangement though so I had no comeback when I came off really bad/worse. Won’t be doing again!

JLouM turkey doesn't appeal to me. I've put in for a refund as we had to pay an extra £1700 to move. The photos online for tui makes it look nice but it's the angle. I won't use tui again

Jerseydrew Good luck with your refund. I think you were maybe just unlucky as I have heard lots of good about TUI as well. However, they should definitely have moved you appropriately and not at extra cost. Not sure what happened there.

possy that's why I booked with them. I've used them loads. But the minute you have a problem is the minute you realise that tui that doesn't care and you're left to sort it out yourself

I hope you took lots of pictures of the state of the hotel as it sounds awful. Unfortunately these companies don’t like to do the right thing until it becomes bad PR for them. They seem to be quick to want to resolve issues when it gets a few views on social media etc.

What do expect for a 3 star all inclusive.. may have been awful but you get what you pay for. Always read the reviews before booking, and check trip adviser too to avoid a similar situation in the future.

LL81 to be clean and safe. For a £3500 holiday I don't expect it to be perfect but I expect it to be decent. If I'd paid a grand for it fine. It wasn't all inclusive either

Sorry to hear that. I’ve used them previously and they were ok, but I know this time of year they may tend to have more issues
