Phoney TV Adverts For New Products And Sales?

Other

1) new products- you absolutely must have this product ! 89% of people who tried it would recommend it. Then you read the small print and they used a panel of 35 people ?!

2). Sale items- sometimes £100’s off. Then again you read the small at the bottom of the screen and the item was only sold at the higher price for a month

Both make me so angry - has anyone else noticed this ?

suevernon1968 It's been like that for years.

The claims that make-up companies make are outrageous. You nearly always get an approval rating of 95%+ with a minimal sample size.

That's life as they say. Until laws against are made it will stay the same.

Also in regards to number 1 they have given those 35 people it for free. Your expectations on a product change with price tag. What's amazing at £5 can be rubbish at £30.

A lot going wrong in this country at the moment and this is a big part of it. Big companies are allowed to lie and cheat and nothing is done

No I just don’t believe them anyway 😅. Ads have always been like this. Of course all they are interested in are sales of their products. It’s not going to stop me from shopping around. Most ads are branded as they can afford to advertise in the first place.

These ad campaigns assume we’re all thick but it’s easy to do an online search to find out the best price.

I rarely buy anything really that is advertised unless its an essential item. Advertising adds a large chunk of money onto the selling price so often becomes uncompetitive. I don't really read newspapers or magazines and when I visit my mother who lives nearby and see live tv its all ads for life insurance, cosmetics/perfume, cremations and gambling mainly. I saw an advert for both Topcashback and Quidco but have used them before they started advertising. I've seen a few adverts for Christmas already from the supermarkets, no pricing is mentioned and most of them are a bit irritating especially when you have seen them more than 3 times, I tend to tune them out I think.
