TV License Sent Me an Email to Confirm I Don't Need One

Other

Canceled mine four years ago and I received this spammy email from TVL today (March 27, 2023). 😆

If I watched Live TV/Streams or BBC iPlayer I'd pay for it, but I don't so I'm not going to. They're lucky I didn't report this email as spam because that's what it feels like.

No means no, BBC.

I thought you only needed a tv licence to watch BBC. I only watch 1 programme on it myself but do watch Amazon prime

Imnotcheap You need it if:

- You watch Live TV

- You watch Live Streams

- You watch BBC iPlayer

I don't do nor care about any of those three. Much as I loathe TVL, it's better kept as it is or they may try to add it to a tax/bill which leaves people no choice to opt out.

Imnotcheap If you watch or record anything that is live like This Morning or a boxing match on Sky then you need a TV license its not just for BBC

I do have a TV license but i believed you only needed one if you watch BBC. I didn’t realise it for any live viewing.

Pjran it also says if you record as well. And if you watch or record Amazon and Sky, what a liberty as we already pay for them separately!

Lynibis there has been such a lot of discussion in the press about it only being exempt if you don’t watch BBC.

Pjran tbh I am too much of a scaredy cat to risk not buying a license, knowing me I would get caught the one time I watch something I shouldn't. It seems they can catch you out for watching almost anything.
