The Universe Would Die before a Monkey with a Keyboard Writes Shakespeare

Other

I am all for scientific studies, but should this one be , or not to be , that is the question ?

Why would scientists want to know if monkeys could type the entire works of shakespeare, it baffles me, never mind the monkeys

It even has a name the "infinite monkey theorem" and has been known about for one hundred years

But two mathematicians have worked out even if all the monkeys in the world typed randomly to the end of time they could never complete shakespeares entire works

Maybe the scientists were taking one of shakespeares other quotes literally, “Though this be madness, yet there is method in it.”

I can't say I'm surprised there are 26 letters and probably something like 100,000 characters in a play or something like that so 26 to the power of 100,000 is a ridiculous figure. 26 to the power of 10 is over a 140 trillion. 26x26x26x26x26x26x26x26x26x26 so just the first 10 characters of the play has 140 trillion combinations and I haven't even included spaces or numbers.
