How to Safely Remove Mold from VHS Tapes?

Ask a Question

I have so many VHS tapes with family holidays, parties etc. Some of the tapes have some white mould on it and cant play them. any idea how to remove these?

Also what is the best cost efficient way to covert them into digital format?

We have someone local who converts them to DVD - maybe have a look on Facebook or Google in your area

Google and see if there is anyone nearby that can put them onto dvd for you. A friend of mine did this

The ClearClick Video To Digital Converter 2.0 is super easy to use – just press a button to turn your old VHS videos into digital files. Here's the best part: No Computer or Software Required. Just hook it up, start recording, and it saves videos directly onto a USB Flash Drive or SD Card

Mayhem obviously I cannot recommend a product that I haven't actually used, read everything thoroughly before deciding, check reviews ect...

If you still have a working vhs player/recorder then just buy a simple cable for your PC it will connect the composite or s-video output (extra fancy s-vhs players) plus audio phonos to your PC using USB and normally the driver is picked up automatically by Windows 10 or 11. You can then record your VHS tapes to computer using any video recording software and then use free video editing software to cut them up into video files you want. Once you have your video files you can store them how you like. VHS is very low resolution so you don't need to record them at great quality, DVD resolution is more than enough possibly less so you can store a lot of video in not a lot of space. Alternatively use the latest AI video enhancing software which will create higher quality high resolution video from manky old VHS recordings. There are some free AI video enhancers available but not sure how good they are, might be time limited or have watermarks on the video.
