Do You Want to Pay around 2p for 'Any Hot Drink' in Waitrose ? , Here's How

Ask a Question

I saw this hack on yahoo news and thought what a great way to get an almost free coffee each day , or any other hot drink with a minimal cost

They are one of the most expensive supermarkets so this is something nice to get in return for shopping there

First of all you need the myWaitrose app, and a myWaitrose card, both easy to apply for and download

Then just buy the cheapest thing in store, an apple , potato or even a single carrot costing a few pence, then scan this with your waitrose card

You can then go to the coffee machine and get your free hot drink , but you need to bring your own cup each time

You don't even have to buy anything if you don't want to , but if you have a conscience you will as the system is based on trust , i expect most people will do a small shop to get this offer , and that's what Waitrose will be depending on

telmel this has been the case for a couple of years if not longer. It was introduced to stop people going in and filling their cups up without buying anything.

Pjran According to the article you could get away without buying anything P, as its done on trust and honesty , or you only need to spend pence if you do go ahead and purchase something ?

I always forget to bring my own cup lol when I was at Waitrose can’t remember when I was last there, we hardly shop there as it’s too expensive! Why bother going when there’s not much offers or even reduced items!

telmel yeah that’s exactly right! Why I don’t bother! There was a shop in town here in Leeds and me and family would go there and buy a lot of reduced food items on Sundays but has been shut down for. Few years and Poundland has replaced it

Last year I kept getting free hot drinks tea 🍵 or coffee ☕️ without having to pay! It’s from Greggs on the o2 priority app!

This works well for us.I buy my husband a paper and he sorts out his coffee while I wander round the isles looking at the offers and pricing which he never likes to do.Yes, Waitrose is expensive, but there are some good offers to be had.Happy shopping everyone.

I do shop in Waitrose occasionally but its very expensive and it can be time consuming to find well priced items. I normally get a hot drink if I remember the cup and generally only buy 2 or 3 items which are probably all short life items. The Waitrose stores I visit are Sherborne, Crewkerne and Poundbury mostly with Sherborne being the most likely to visit and that is perhaps only 3 times a year and would never do a main shop there. I really feel Waitrose pricing is not competitive enough, I'm not expecting them to be the cheapest but I feel the gap is too wide in their pricing compared to other supermarkets.

I used to enjoy my free drink every time I was by a Waitrose, but since they stopped the freebie (which you now only get with a purchase), I haven't bothered. I don’t miss it - but good to have if I need (as long as I don’t forget my cup)

jms19 Maybe I'm going mad but I think at least one of the Waitrose stores I visit has the Cafe Nero branding on the coffee so it is bought from them. I don't like going into Cafe Nero as had an annoying experience with them in the past but the coffee is fine. I personally don't think its as nice as Costa though but definitely better than Lavazza at Wetherspoons which is nice coffee and great value but not as nice as Costa, Greggs or Cafe Nero.

If you have a Waitrose on route to work I can see that it's a good plan. Unfortunately there is not a local branch to me.

Damn, I was in there yesterday and spent a moderate £30 but only because I had a gift card.

I really like this idea and would do it often if my nearest store was closer to home!
