When Do You Book Your Holidays?

Ask a Question

I’ve heard that January is the best time to book holidays, as this is when the flights are meant to be cheap.

I’m going to check them out in January…

Does anyone already do this??

Usually a couple of months before.

blacklabrador do you find its best value booking a few months before you go? I’ve never done that either lol

PayItForward Yes, I tend to use airlines like Easyjet or Ryanair, and I've found the nearer the dates I want to go there are fewer seats and thus dynamic pricing kicks in.

Getting it all done early seems to work for me as regards getting the best price.

We only go on stay cations so we are able to drive to where we are going. It depends how far in advance we've planned as to when we book hotels. Sometimes doing it far in advance is cheaper, other times doing it closer is cheaper. We usually go on and see where the cheapest hotels are and that dictates where we go.

I don't like booking months before the trip. Always worried something can change in the meantime.

kikogpe that’s true. I had friends booked to go to Israel with their son. It’s way too dangerous atm though

Our last holiday and our next holidays have both been booked around 9 months in advance. I don't think I would like to book it too soon as I like to have it planned out in my head! x

Karen331 I know what you mean. It gives you time to look up where you are staying for things to do too

We've never booked our holidays way in advance, currently looking at abroard for Xmas as never done this before but everything seems so expensive but will carry on looking and see if a good late deal pops up.

When the children were in school it was a case of booking very early to choose the correct dates. Now it’s difficult because I need a disabled cabin so I’ve been looking 2 years ahead without much joy!

Pjran I really am sorry to hear this. It must be frustrating for you not being able to get a disabled cabin

I only do UK breaks now with my son, haven’t been abroad for years. We book the UK breaks a year in advance normally or around when the seasons end

I have just got back from the Caribbean and that was reasonably priced. I have booked for the canaries in December and again a good price. I’m lucky I can go when I want so I just look for the good deals.

I'm always looking at cheap flights so whenever I see a destination that I want to go to, in the time frame that works, at the right price. I think these days you can get cheap flights all year round tbh

jms19 I prefer package holidays as it’s on the company if your flight is delayed that causes you to miss a transfer or connecting flight
