When Booking Holidays Do You Book in Advance and Wait Last Minute?

Ask a Question

I used always book last minute and get some amazing deals. I now go cruising a lot and it seems better to book in advance. What do you do?

I book long-haul flights (like to Australia) in advance and more flexible on short-haul flights 😃

Usually always in advance. I like to plan and know what’s going on

Years ago we used to wait until the last minute to book and picked up some great deals, now thou the last minute deals seem to be few and far between, so we book early and take advantage of early booking discounts instead .

Long haul maybe six months in advance.

Shorter European breaks maybe a month or two.

kate1310 The reason we retired early was to get this last minute deals. Unfortunately my daughter took over a pub so we struggle to get away last minute.

When the children were at school I always booked a long time in advance because of finding something in school holidays.

We rarely go on holiday, haven't been on one in 5 years. We always booked in advance. We can only go during school holidays so have always needed to book early.

MrsCraig I never booked during school holidays as it was too expensive but back when my children were younger we did not get fined. But I have heard parents say it is still cheaper to book out of school holidays and pay the fine.

MrsCraig Oh, you have no hope of going out of school holidays. What is your view when children are taken away during school time?

Always on the lookout for Cyprus or Spain as relatives living there allow for spontaneous or planned trips if the price is right

I book in advance mainly due to my work as my diary is getting so full for next year with work

possy We are having the same problems. We generally go away every other month but my boss ( my daughter) keeps putting us on shifts.

Tend to do a bit of both. always book one a year, way in advance plenty of time to prep and something to look forward to but do try the spontaneous late deal if just for a weekend when the chance comes along

janphoenix51 Does your partner ever surprise you and not tell you where you are going? I would like that apart from not knowing what to pack

I ring the cattery, book our cats in for their holiday then pay for it when we take them in...

I make sure they both have their favourite toys & Immunisation card with me..
