When Do Your Christmas Decorations Go up ?
Ask a Question
I have noticed more people, putting up their Christmas decorations, earlier every year.
I always fo mine on the 1st of December. I was just wondering when you put yours up ?
My birthday is the 10th of December and nothing to do with Christmas happened before that. Then we went all out putting up every Christmas decorations going, inside and out. But now we are away just before Christmas so we don’t do much at all apart from decorate a huge Christmas tree in our front garden. Looks like we celebrate Christmas then!
Jerseydrew Since having this cat we now have five. I don’t think it will be a good idea putting up the tree this year!
eyeballkerry you have to. The cats will miss out. It's part of their Christmas to trash the tree. I still don't put decorations on the lower branches of a tree because of cats. I don't have cats. It's habit
eyeballkerry wow with the first photos pretty Xmas lights! Haha cute cat on the tree!
1st December in our house. I've dug out my Halloween bedding that "may" be used til Jan as its nightmare before Xmas. The kids have it as well
My door wreath goes up once I’ve finished making it, usually mid December. Then I decorate the fireplace with fresh Holly and Ivy add some lights and artificial red berries.
I used to put up decorations when my daughter was young, but I haven't put them up for years now. I don't really like Christmas. Call me the Grinch.
Come rain or shine, 1st December they go up & come down 2nd January. I love Christmas & love having my decs up.
Usually the first or 2nd weekend of December, it usually depends on when I can be bothered doing it as have to move sons toys out the living room to make space for the tree.
they'll go some time in December, whether it be the first or second week. Can’t have them up too early
In our house the decorations usually go up around the second week of December and down by 5th January. The room always looks so much bigger when their taken down.
As early as possible. I know some people say not before December, but I love getting mine up from the 3rd week in November
I put mine up 12 days before Christmas and 12 days after, welli try most times it later as iam always painting so always late when I do put it up I never want to take it down I love it up you will start to see them up soon someone on my work said there neighbour has there's up already lol
Beginning of December for us when advent calendars start, with having kids we have no choice
December! That's the Christmas month! Nothing before December. I don't want to get fed up by Christmas
My christmas decorations go up up 6 weeks prior to Christmas middle of November, and are taken down on the 6th January.
For some reason I don’t like Christmas wreaths. They just make me think of funerals, I just feel weird about them. I understand some people like them and enjoy making them though. Do you like them?
JLouM ...My partner says the same about Wreaths & Funerals so we DON'T have any kind of Wreaths...
I know some that put them straight after Halloween. I also seen Christmas trees in people's windows around Easter too. Perhaps some keep them all year IDK.
I personally put them in December. Used to buy a real trees for years until I got an artificial one from WeRChristmas on Amazon which looks like real one. With real trees I always purchased them few days before Christmas to keep them fresh until 6th of January. With artificial 1st or second week of December depends if I have time during weekend.
First week in December when my partner & Inare both on our days off, my partner likes them down after New Year but I insist that they stay up till 6th Jan...
Walking home last night at about 10pm one house in my area has some Christmas lights going on in their windows. Very nice they are too but certainly seems too early to me as we are still in Autumn but if they want to enjoy them for longer I have no problem with it. There is a house about 7 minutes walk from my house that really goes to town with its decorations to the point loads of families with kids go there just to look at it. Always a fantastic reason for a winter evening walk but I don't think that is active until the beginning of December 3 weeks from now.
Never if I can help it. Seriously though I used to put up loads but as the children got older they were not really interested.
Some of our neighbours have been putting their outside decorations up today , way too early in my opinion
martinlufc5637 lol that’s so true! Went to town yesterday at Home sense shop so many decorations are up on shelves to sell, windows have so many figurines
Two Xmas trees are up for people to take photos
Crazy should be up next week or something
Kind of like spoils the festive season to have them up this damn early every year
kitty88uk traditions have gone unfortunately, take bonfire night for example, bonfire night was last week yet there were more bonfires this weekend than bonfire night, I'm fed up of fireworks, everyday for 2 weeks
martinlufc5637 tell me about it even before the actual night fireworks keeps getting set off, they are so damn loud and out of no where during the day too every time it makes me jump or I get that sinking stomach feeling cause it’s a huge shocking bang!
1st of December for us. That was the date when I was a kid and will remain the date now im an adult
I always thought it was 12 days before Christmas and 12 days after Christmas to take them down xx
1st of Dec
Take em down before new years
Little one enjoys looking at the lights outside the house
Hopefully next weekend. I am getting them down from the lost either today or tomorrow ready.
Usually first weekend of December. They are all down before New year. I like everything clean and tidy for new year. Having tree up feels cluttered. I drives me mad. My mum always done the same. X
Mine usually go up after my son’s birthday so it’s about the middle of December. But my neighbour put hers up on 11th of November
