When is the Last Time You Used Cash.
Ask a Question
Just seen an advert where someone is asking for someone to pay electronically for potatoes. It made me realised its been over a year since I used cash.
I pay in cash all the time. I prefer this as I don't have a lot of money. I like to have my money in my hand then I know what I've got and can budget. If I payed on a card I'd worry that I'd go over drawn and get charges and end up in debt that I could never pay back.
KAW18 I am also on a fixed income, but use my card all the time, but keep a careful record of my spend. It may be because the cash machine in our village charges a fee for taking out cash, which I won't pay.
beccatavender oh I see. Yes I refuse to pay for my cash too. I'm lucky at the moment cash machines close to me don't charge all though I Know more and more machines are which is crazy when local brances of banks are closing down. Not everbody can travel to a city centre to go to the bank there.
Yesterday, my local fish & chip shop prefers cash payments. Otherwise, I normally pay with a debit card. Although, you often don't have a choice, an increasing number of businesses in my area won't accept cash payments.
ACR There are a few places where I live which don't accept cash and others that only accept cash. I don't mind as long as they make it clear from the outside so you are prepared
My hubby and my son always pay in cash for their haircuts at the local barbers. Everywhere else we use our cards. Very rare I carry cash unless it's to pay for car parking.
I pay in cash about three times a week. Around here, in rural countryside, you can't live without cash!
This week I made some cash from selling some, no longer needed items, via Facebook. I also spent some of that cash in the reptile shop, I did find myself asking them if they accept cash though. I did save some cash for the carpark in the shopping centre, sadly it looked like they had all changed to card only now though.
I used cash last night to pay for our Chinese takeaway, probably use cash about 3/4 times a week.
I probably use cash and card equally. Online shops are obviously card but if I grocery shop in store I take enough cash to cover what I need and it stops me being tempted and tossing things I don't need into the trolley. I also use cash for car parking as I find other methods confusing as they are never the same and I get embarrassed if people are waiting.
Lynibis I know what you mean, I really dislike the ones that ask for your Reg. number as I always have to double check as I can't rely on my memmory
I rarely carry cash these days cause i find i spend it, especially coins. However i think it is sad that we are moving away from physical currency
The only time I use cash is when I get my hair/beard done at the barbers but that's because they don't take card. I don't like to carry cash and use it and I don't particularly like taking cash at work (won't refuse it), it's extra steps I need to take handling cash (it's high values)
Wow over a year!! I use cash often as I sell stuff on Facebook so have cash lying around. I prefer cash really.
I pay with cash most of the time..I like to keep an eye on what I'm spending..I actually draw money out of the cash machine to spend ..call me old fashion but that's the way I am..everything is changing so just want to hold onto the few things we still have ..
Since my husband has retired as and when we go out he always pays usually by credit card. Shopping online which I do frequently I pay be credit card and know the numbers so well.
I always pay with cash,i make a rough guess how much I've spent by the time I get to the till I already have my money ready to pay.Love it,I may be old fashioned but these things are dying out,so hanging onto cash payments.Plus it's so much easier quicker and you don't pay to use cash ,like you have to with a card.
I paid with cash today as I like to keep a eye on what I’m spending as it’s so easy just to tap with the card I always forget how much I have spent
If you don't keep using cash, the banks/ authorities know where and who you are. Always. It's like having an ID card.
I don't think I've used cash since lockdown, and I hated using it even before then - literally dirty money
There's a couple of small businesses in my local market that still prefer cash so I use cash maybe once a month for them. Everything else is card or more apple wallet
I used cash and my card today. I'm trying to get back in the habit of carrying cash at I really don't want to live in a cashless society!
Whenever its needed I pay by cash but for so many people we are heading towards cashless society & then it will be easily to control people their spending will be easily tracked & limitation could be easily applied & any bank could stop giving you your money whenever any government needs to & for so many its a good thing they dont have to carry cash its safe for them that way they like to pay through smart ways like ring card or watch & not have to worry of forgetting card at home even
I've used cash in the past week and using cash for almost a month saved me £130 that month! (My little experiment) the negative...... guys please please please stop licking your money before you hand it to me, and all through covid!! i couldn't get my head round it, ive always thought, why would you do that, I will double check your money in front of you.
Until today I think it was about a year ago! I had a haircut today where they only accept cash - luckily I knew that in advance! There was also a food festival in Plymouth today so I paid cash on a few stalls. I dont suppose I will pay cash again for a while. Kind of used to not needing it now.
Today in the supermarket. I use cash 80% of the time and only use my debit card for large purchases like a laptop, fridge freezer, washing machine.
A day or so ago (don't buy stuff every day).
When countries go cashless, people will regret not using cash.
Paid for something in cash 2 days ago. If I have cash on me then I will use it but I do use my debit card the most.
Sold a sound bar on marketplace today, only use cash for this kind of transaction. Would love to see the end of cash.
Yesterday, 8f we don't use it we'll lose it. Then they'll charge us to use our bank cards etc.
SallyBevins You make a good point, I used to like to have cash on me for incidentals, but since our local bank has closed and they have installed a ATM that charges a fee, I very rarely have cash on me.
jdible Like you, I think it was during COVID that I got out of the habit of using cash and I have never got back into it
I still use cash in my wee local stores but my card when going shopping I just like to have cash in my purse lol iam like you I hate using cash machines when you have to pay to lift your own money its a disgrace I refuse to use them
I pay by cash most of the time but feel less secure using ATMs these days because of criminals targeting them. Prefer cash to using my credit card.
JLouM I must admit I regretted not having £ today as there was an ice cream van in the street and I don't think they take cards
I don't have a credit card, l pay cash always, l actually draw money from the atm to go shopping with rather than pay with my card.. lve no idea why l do it this way...
Pinkspirit I can totally understand it, it's being disciplined, I have X amount on me, so I can only spend that, so it stops putting that little something extra in the trolley. I used to do it prior to Covid. I've just got used to using my debit card, plus the ATM now charges. I don't have a credit card either, a hangover of being silly in my youth, when credit was too easy and it took a me years to pay it back.
Everyday, much easier to keep a eye on budgets with cash than it is when just bleeping the card
