Wouldn't It Be Great if Everyone Was like Dave

Other

Anyone seen the film, Bank of Dave, about the guy in Burnley who opened his own independent bank. It was a struggle against the big banks, who played dirty to stop him, but against all the odds he did it.

He loans money to ordinary people who the banks won't touch, those whose taxes bailed out the big boys and paid for their bonuses, which they still got for bad management. He uses all the profits to fund local projects and charities. If only other businessmen took a leaf out of his book, he seems like a real good stand up guy when I've seen him on tv.

I totally agree with you Lynibis. I have seen him on Channel 4 how to make a profit from a small investment. Well done, Dave.

jam45 he was played by Rory Kinnear in the film and he was a dead ringer for Dave, got his mannerisms so well.

I haven't seen it but I saw a interview he did on the one show. He seemed like a great guy, the world would be a much better place if we saw more of this.

Midnightflower yes, very jokey and happy and the film was unexpectedly uplifting, I don't mind saying I shed a little rear at the end.

We definitely could do with more people like dave around and not so many greedy large corporations that we've got.

Jerseydrew I agree, the big corporations lose that human touch and forget it is the little people that keep them in business.

I saw the film last year. I love a good true story and admired the lawyer at the end helping Dave raise the funds at the end. I can’t remember who.
