6 Cheapest Holiday Destinations This Month Inc. Italy, France & Spain From £38
Tom Church, Co-founder of money saving community LatestDeals.co.uk has revealed six worldwide destinations for which March is the cheapest time to fly there. He reveals the tips and tricks anyone can use to find bargain destinations so you can travel as much as you want without breaking the bank.
Tom said, “I created a list of the places that are cheapest to fly to in March. I found you can save over £200 by choosing to visit these places in March, rather than their peak time”.
By looking at average flight prices for each location throughout the year, Tom can pin down when the best time to fly is.
He said, “Using flight comparison sites, I can see which months are the cheapest to fly to specific places. The price differences can be insane, sometimes more than 80% difference. I recommend using Momondo, Google Flights and Kayak.
“For example, this month, March, flights to Reykjavik, Iceland start from just £38. If you were to fly in July, prices rise and start from an eye watering £204. That’s a £166 difference to visit the same place!
“Another example is New York, USA. Again, flights to the city are cheapest in March, starting from £293. The most expensive month to visit New York is July, with flights starting from £537. That’s a price difference of a whopping £244”.
“If you’re looking for a seaside break, flights to Marseille, France start from £77 in March. Prices nearly double in October, with prices starting from a whopping £149 for exactly the same route”.
Tom’s table of cheap March travel destinations includes city breaks to the States, Iceland and Serbia, and coastal towns in Italy and France.
Tom explained how he finds these prices saying, “I use Momondo’s monthly price graphs to find the cheapest month for each destination. Just search for a location, for example, Bridgetown, Barbados, and it’ll show you price history graphs.
“Obviously, it’s worth researching the destination to check if you're happy with the climate at that time of year. For example, flights may be cheaper to the Caribbean during hurricane season, but you may not necessarily want to travel there then. However, you can use these price graphs to inform your decision, and I’ve found them handy to scout out cheap locations to visit”.
Tom went on to share some more of his top tips to find cheap travel deals. He said, “I use Google Flights to set up alerts for cheap flights. Just search for a destination, add in that you want the flights to be direct, and select ‘any time’, and create the alert. I have loads of these set up for locations on my bucket list. It’s sort of like having your own travel agent working full time trying to find deals for you! You’ll get an email with any cheap flight going to the destination you’ve chosen, and the email will also include high, medium and low fares to that place, so you can see if you’re actually getting a bargain”.
He finished by adding, “Finally, I suggest looking at travel deal sites for flash offers and packages. I recommend looking at Latest Deals, Last Minute, Travel Supermarket and Secret Escapes. Buying flights separately has the advantage that you can often find super cheap flights. However, if you’re looking for more protection with your holiday, packages are the way to go. As always, make sure you do your research and compare prices online. Just because a package is advertised as a bargain, doesn’t necessarily mean it is”.
