Aldi Crowned Top Seller of British Free-Range Eggs
- Aldi surpasses all UK supermarkets in free-range egg sales
- Nearly 200 million eggs sold over three months
- £50 million invested in UK egg farming
- Commitment to long-term supplier contracts
Aldi has emerged as the leading retailer of British free-range eggs in the UK, with nearly 200 million eggs sold in just 12 weeks. This milestone is backed by a £50 million investment into British egg farming over the past two years, ensuring that all their eggs meet the British Lion Code standards.
The retailer's strong relationships with UK egg farmers are a key factor in their success. Aldi offers long-term contracts to suppliers, providing them with stability and the confidence to continue investing in their operations.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, remarked, “British suppliers are integral to Aldi’s success, and the long-term relationships we’ve formed with our UK egg farmers are something we take great pride in. Becoming the largest provider of free-range eggs is a great achievement which wouldn’t have been possible without these brilliant suppliers, who continue to work with us to put animal welfare first.”
Aldi's commitment to British suppliers extends beyond eggs. In 2023, the supermarket spent an additional £1.3 billion with British suppliers, reinforcing its dedication to local sourcing.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, comments, "Aldi's dedication to supporting British agriculture is commendable. Their investment ensures not only quality products for customers but also sustainable futures for local farmers."
