Kellogg’s Cuts Corn Flakes Box Size, Leaving Shoppers Frustrated
- Kellogg’s reduces Corn Flakes box sizes by 50g, but prices remain the same.
- Shoppers notice they're paying more for less as 720g boxes shrink to 670g and 500g to 450g.
- The price change has led to backlash, with customers voicing their frustrations.
Kellogg’s has sparked frustration among shoppers by reducing the size of its Corn Flakes packs while keeping prices unchanged, effectively leading to customers paying more for less. The 720g and 500g boxes have been reduced to 670g and 450g respectively, with prices remaining the same at major supermarkets like Tesco.
This reduction, often referred to as "shrinkflation," has left many shoppers feeling short-changed. A Tesco customer expressed their dismay online, saying, “You don’t eat less just because it is in a smaller packet. Now you just need to buy more frequently. So who is really benefiting here? Not the consumer.”
Another shopper echoed these sentiments, remarking, “Another shrinking of pack with price staying the same or going up. In recent memory, it’s gone from 790g, 720g, now 670g…. Dear Kellogg’s, you sell Corn Flakes not gold flakes.”
The situation has also led to confusion, with the smaller 670g box being labelled as "New" on Tesco’s website, which shoppers found misleading. Despite the outcry, Kellogg’s maintains that the pricing decisions are ultimately up to the retailers, although they acknowledge that rising production costs have impacted their recommended retail prices.

I can't remember the last time I had a box of Kellogs Cornflakes, seems like 5 years ago or more. I buy the shop brand version so I couldn't care less if the boxes were now 50g. More and more people are stopping buying big brands so I guess they need to make more money from those that still do.
