Additional Savings on Produce
If you’re looking to save even more on fruits and vegetables, consider buying “wonky” produce. These are perfectly edible items that might be misshapen or close to their sell-by date, available at a significant discount.
Many supermarkets offer these bundles. For example, Lidl's "Waste Not" scheme sells a 5kg box of mixed produce for just £1.50. Sainsbury’s also has a £2 box that can feed a family for several days with a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Ethan Singh at The Sun reported on these fantastic savings opportunities. Whether it’s a free fruit promotion or a discounted box of veggies, there are plenty of ways to cut costs on healthy foods.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "These offers are a great way for shoppers to save on fresh produce. It's wonderful to see supermarkets finding creative ways to reduce food waste and help customers at the same time."
So far I've picked up a Honeydew melon, mixed grapes 500g, 5 pack medium oranges, mixed chillies and a pineapple. I only top up shop there so when I haven't had anything to buy, I've popped in and bought a 20p banana to get another spin - it's worth it
Shop regularly at Liidl and often get a free bakery item for spending more than £50 in a month. It's great that you can get an item of fruit for a small spen. I'm going tomorrow.
I went in the other week because I had a £5 off £25 voucher and decided against getting lemons there as quite expensive at 95p compared to other supermarkets but when I did the spin to win I had either a free hot pepper or unwaxed lemons so of course went with the unwaxed lemons. I was so glad I hadn't bought the lemons in my main shop. My mother got a free bunch of bananas although we wouldn't normally buy those as quite small and poor value but as a freebie great.
