M&S Launches New Service to Revive Clothing from £5
- New clothing repair service launched in partnership with Sojo
- Prices start from £5 for various repair services
- Service aims to promote sustainability and reduce textile waste
Marks & Spencer has unveiled an innovative service that aims to give your clothes a second life, earning praise from shoppers who have called it a "great idea."
Starting this August, M&S is collaborating with Sojo, a specialist repair and tailoring business, to offer clothing repair services. Customers will be able to book a range of services from zip replacement to knitwear mending via the M&S Fixed by Sojo Online hub.
M&S noted that only 10% of people feel confident repairing their clothes themselves, and 60% of customers seek more services that help reduce their carbon footprint. The retailer aims to address these needs by offering repairs starting at just £5, with items being returned within ten days.
Richard Price, M&S's managing director of clothing and home, said, “At M&S, exceptional quality products are at the heart of everything we do, and we want to ensure that all our clothes are too good to waste.”
The initiative comes as M&S looks to tackle the issue of textile waste, with a recent report by WRAP NGO highlighting that 1.6 billion clothes in UK wardrobes go unused.
Josephine Philips, founder and CEO of Sojo, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “It has always been a core mission of ours at Sojo to make repairing clothes mainstream and to extend the life of as many garments as possible. This partnership will truly bring easy, accessible and convenient repairs to the masses.”
The launch coincides with a broader trend of the “repair revolution,” with alteration apps and services becoming more popular. Alongside this new service, M&S will also provide online tutorials for customers to learn how to mend their clothes at home.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, remarked, "M&S's new repair service is a fantastic step towards sustainability. It not only helps reduce waste but also empowers customers to make more eco-friendly choices."
Think this is a great idea, i always see people on social media asking does anyone know someone who can mend this or that etc so think service like this will be very welcome to a lot of people
This is the best deal. Using clothes after repairing is best after which is the most like clothes of mine.
This is brilliant news, and I can't wait to use their service. I have got a coat that is far too long and needs shortening.
