Popeyes Introduces Double Stack Sandwich Following Viral Trend
- Popeyes has officially added the Double Stack Sandwich to its menu, featuring two marinated chicken breasts.
- The new menu item is available for £7.99 in both Classic and Spicy versions across the UK.
- This change was inspired by a popular hack where customers added an extra chicken breast to their sandwiches.
Popeyes has officially embraced a popular customer hack by launching the Double Stack Sandwich. For those who always wanted just a bit more in their sandwich, your wish has been granted. Featuring not one, but two juicy, marinated chicken breasts, this sandwich is Popeyes' newest addition to satisfy those hearty appetites.
Neha Dhillon at The Sun reported that this innovative menu addition follows a noticeable trend among patrons—nearly 500 a week—who opted to double up the chicken on their own. Observing the hack's popularity over the past two years and its viral spread on social media, the chain saw an opportunity to cater directly to this customer desire.
According to Dave Hoskins, Popeyes' head of food, "We've seen the hack, we’ve listened to our fans, and we’re pleased to be making the Double Stack official – so more people can easily opt for some extra Shatter Crunch in their Sandwich." The new sandwich maintains the beloved Popeyes recipe, with chicken marinated for 12 hours in a special blend of Louisiana herbs and spices, hand-breaded, and then nestled within a soft brioche bun. Fans can choose between original and spicy mayo to top off their sandwich.
Launching yesterday, the Double Stack is now available at all UK locations, including restaurants, drive-thrus, and delivery services. The introduction of this sandwich coincides with an ambitious expansion plan as Popeyes aims to double its presence in the UK market by the end of the year, potentially creating 2,000 new jobs.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "Popeyes' move to make a popular customer hack an official menu item shows their commitment to listening to their patrons. It's a smart way to engage with the community and keep the menu exciting and responsive to trends."
