Sainsbury's to End Nectar Points on eBay Purchases

Image
  • Nectar points will no longer be available for eBay purchases via Sainsbury's
  • Changes take effect from 1st September
  • Shoppers urged to take advantage of current benefits before the deadline

Starting 1st September, Sainsbury's customers will no longer be able to earn or spend Nectar points on purchases made through the eBay website. The supermarket chain has notified its shoppers, giving them a five-week notice to make the most of the current scheme. This change means that customers will need to explore alternative ways to use their Nectar points after the deadline.

Ruby Flanagan reported in the Mirror that Sainsbury's decision may affect those who frequently use their Nectar points for online shopping. It's a good idea to review your points and consider redeeming them before the program's changes take effect.

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, “It's always important to stay informed about changes in loyalty programs. This shift might encourage shoppers to look for other ways to maximise their rewards.”

Nectar is not honest or professional in my experience. I was meant to get 1500 bonus points through ebay and ebay have confirmed I have done nothing wrong and yet it was never paid. I think ebay are just sick of Nectar now. There is absolutely no point using Nectar with ebay now as you get more cashback/points using Topcashback or Quidco so no reason to use it. Argos is a huge burden to Sainsbury's too and keeps getting downsized. I don't think I've bought anything from Argos in 10 years. I did try to but they cancelled the order. When I go into Sainsbury's that has a Argos counter it is almost always empty with someone just twiddling their thumbs. It might be busier at the weekend but weekdays it just seems unused mostly. They would make more money by abandoning Argos and use that space for extended lines at Sainsburys.

This can only massively reduce the use of the Nectar loyalty scheme.

Well that’s not good that’s where I make most of my big purchases from. I’ve been doing it for years but I will look elsewhere to maximise my points.
