- Cadbury's iconic Caramel bunnies won't be making a return this Easter, leaving fans disheartened.
- These chocolates, beloved for their smooth caramel center and adorable bunny shape, have disappeared from stores.
- Discussions emerge on social media regarding their availability, with many expressing their fondness for the treat.
- Cadbury has not officially announced when the bunnies were discontinued.
- As an alternative, Cadbury caramel chocolate bars are available, starting at £1.35 for a 120g bar at Tesco.
The Easter season is upon us, but for many, it's tinged with a note of sadness this year. The much-loved Cadbury Caramel bunnies, once a staple of Easter treat collections, have vanished, sparking a mix of confusion and nostalgia among chocolate aficionados. These treats, shaped like the cutest of bunnies and filled with Cadbury's signature smooth caramel, were not just candies; they were a symbol of the season.
Keira Clarke at The Sun recently reported on the disappearance of these seasonal delights. The bunnies, typically sold in packs of two and featuring a total of 40g of chocolate, became an Easter tradition for many. The mascot, recognizable by her pink neck bow and fluttering eyelashes, brought back fond memories of Cadbury’s advertising in the late 20th century, with Mirian Magolyes lending her voice to the character in commercials.
The online community has felt the absence deeply, with enthusiasts in food-focused social media groups, such as the Food Finds UK on Facebook, actively seeking any sign of the beloved bunnies. Questions and reminiscences have flooded in, ranging from simple inquiries like, "Does anyone know if you can still get these, what happened to them??" to expressions of affection declaring, "These are the best ever."
Despite the noticeable gap online and the lack of communication from Cadbury regarding their discontinuation, alternatives are being sought. Fans longing for the flavor can find solace in Cadbury caramel chocolate bars, readily available across major supermarkets. At Tesco, a 120g bar is priced at £1.35, providing a taste reminiscent of the much-missed bunnies.
The discontinuation has hit hard, especially as Cadbury fans have recently faced the discontinuation of other favorites, such as the Cadbury Dairy Milk Toffee Popcorn bar. The absence of the 38g Mini Egg Carton this Easter further narrows the selection of cherished treats.
For those on the hunt for discontinued chocolates, there's still hope. Various retailers offer last chances to enjoy other beloved candies:
Breakaway bars: Available in packs of eight at Iceland for £1, Sainsbury’s for £1.25, and Tesco for £1.25.
Caramac bars: Hard to find but occasionally available at Iceland in packs of three for £1.25, Sainsbury’s for a single bar at 75p, and B&M for packs of three at £1.25.
Yorkie biscuit bars: Stocked at various supermarkets, including Ocado, Tesco, and Asda, each offering single bars for £1.25.
Milky Way Crispy Rolls: Despite discontinuation in 2022, they’ve been spotted at Poundland and Home Bargains, with prices varying.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "The loss of Cadbury Caramel bunnies from our Easter festivities marks a poignant moment for those of us who grew up cherishing these treats. It's a reminder of how traditions evolve, but also of the lasting impact of childhood favorites on our taste buds and hearts. Perhaps Cadbury will surprise us in the future by reviving some of these classics."
As the quest for these nostalgic treats continues, it's clear that the spirit of Easter is not just about the candies we eat but the memories they evoke. While the Cadbury Caramel bunnies may be missing from shelves this year, the search for them and other discontinued favorites keeps the essence of Easter hunts alive, reminding us of the joy in seeking and cherishing the flavors of our past.
The only Cadburys product I can remember buying in the last 5 years is I think for 2 of those years we had a box of Heroes in addition to Celebrations at Christmas. Too expensive nowadays and the fruit and nut isn't as nice as it used to be. I seem to remember they removed some of the nuts and increased the fruit (currants) in order to save money. Another big brand that I rarely buy nowadays.
