Simple Switch Could Save You £337 a Year on Broadband Bills
- Millions of broadband customers risk overpaying by £337 annually.
- Mid-contract price hikes are a common culprit, but switching providers can help.
- Smaller providers often offer better deals without sneaky price increases.
Millions of broadband customers across the UK could be paying an extra £337 per year due to sneaky mid-contract price hikes, according to research from Utility Warehouse. Around 11 million people are at risk of paying more than they need to by sticking with their current broadband deals, especially those with contracts that include annual price increases linked to inflation.
From January 2025, new Ofcom rules will require telecom providers to state price increases upfront in pounds and pence. However, customers may still end up paying more if they don’t shop around for better deals. Smaller providers, such as Hyperoptic and Zen Internet, often offer competitive prices without mid-term price hikes, making them an attractive option for those looking to save money.
