- Tesco reintroduces Kids Eat Free scheme for summer
- Offer available in all stores with a cafe
- Starts July 22 in England and Wales, running until August 30
- Available Monday to Friday with Clubcard
Tesco is bringing back its popular Kids Eat Free initiative this summer, offering a fantastic opportunity for families to save money while dining out. The offer is available in all Tesco stores across the UK that have a cafe, provided shoppers have a Clubcard.
The scheme will begin on different dates depending on the location. In Scotland and Northern Ireland, it starts on Monday and runs until August 30. In England and Wales, the offer starts on July 22 and also continues until August 30. The deal is available from Monday to Friday, subject to availability at each store.
To take advantage of the offer, an adult simply needs to purchase any item from a Tesco , which could be as affordable as 60p, and present a valid Clubcard either physically or through the Tesco mobile app at the till. This will entitle their child to a free hot meal, breakfast, or a pick ‘n’ mix deal.
The kids' menu includes:
- Breakfast: Little Beans on Toast, Little Eggs on Toast, Little Avocado on Toast, Little Blueberry Pancakes, Little Crumpets
- Lunch: Little Tomato Pasta Shells, Sausages meal deal, Chicken Goujons meal deal, Fish Fingers meal deal
- Pick ‘n’ Mix Lunch Deal: Any kids sandwich, a piece of fruit, two kids snacks, and a kids drink
The offer has received widespread praise from shoppers, with many taking to social media to share their excitement. One parent commented, “That looks yummy, need a taste of that,” while another simply labelled it “amazing.”
Claire De Silva, Tesco’s Head of Communities, said, “We know that some parents worry about the extra expense that school holidays can bring. Offering free meals is one of the ways we can support families during this time and help give children a stronger start.”
In 2023, Tesco provided over 440,000 free meals to children and families during school holidays. Additionally, families can exchange their Clubcard vouchers for Tesco Reward Partners to enjoy discounts at popular spots like Pizza Express and Cineworld.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, noted, “Tesco’s Kids Eat Free initiative is a wonderful way to support families during the summer holidays. It’s a great example of a big brand giving back to the community.”
I can see how these schemes benefit supermarkets as if you have a family with kids and use the cafe you are also more likely to do a shop in the supermarket itself and if you have a family then it could be a bigger shop but must admit as a I don't have children I would not use the cafe while the promotion is on. It has no benefit to me and also means more kids in the cafe which can be annoying. Also I do remember being in Morrisons where I overheard one of the cafe staff dreading the arrival of a similar promotion the following week as it meant more problems, more cleaning etc. So the cafe staff weren't exactly for it either.
BonzoBanana I understand where you and the staff are coming from but it’s up to parents to make sure their kids don’t make extra mess, run around annoying others there etc. I always taught my kids to leave a place as close to possible as they would at home. I bet the kids that are unruly etc wouldn’t dream of having food fights, throw leftovers on floor etc or maybe they would. It does seem kids get away with a lot these days and I’ve even seen parents who are scared off their kids they’ll let them away with anything for an easier life. Parents taking their kids to places like this should be grateful for the help they’re getting and make sure their kids are respectful of staff and others
