You can enjoy the world’s best wine for just £7 this Christmas. Here, we take a look at the special offers available on champagne, prosecco and wine at each of the supermarkets.

Lidl is selling a wine that has been crowned best in the world for less than a tenner. It comes after the discount supermarket was also found to be cheapest for Christmas dinner.

Looking at Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons, Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s, here’s a round-up of bargain booze to keep you merry.

Lidl

Lidl was already found to be the cheapest for your Christmas dinner, and they may also be the best place to get wine.

Lidl’s Fortezza dei Chianti Classico Riserva, a Tuscan red wine, has been crowned the best in the world by this year’s International Wine Challenge, which is known as the Oscars of the wine world.

It’s also great value, costing only £7.

Lidl are also doing a Christmas wine tour in stores this year, with wines starting from just £5, so customers can get a bargain wine to go with their Christmas dinner.

Aldi

Another big winner at this years wine awards, Aldi is a great place to get your Christmas drinks.

The budget supermarket won 53 awards in total, scoring particularly highly for their port, winning Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in this category.

The Gold medal winning bottle of port, The Maynard's 1992 Late Bottled Vintage Port, is more expensive than Lidl’s winning wine, costing £19.99, but it’s Silver medal winner, a ten year old Tawny Port, will cost you just £9.99.

If you’re after something a bit sweeter, Aldi also had a Gold medal winning dessert wine, Château de Myrat, for just £11.99.

Julie Ashfield of Aldi UK, said, “We are absolutely delighted with the results of the International Wine Challenge- winning over 50 awards at such a prestigious competition is a real testament to the quality of our wine range.”

Aldi also have a huge wine clearance sale on right now; bargain hunters can pick up a bottle of wine from just £4, all of which are rated with 4 stars.

Morrisons

Morrisons was the biggest winner at this years awards, taking home 78 medals in total.

Three out of the five gold medals it won were for its’ own brand sherries: Morrison Oloroso, Morrison's’ Best Palo Cortado, and Morrison’s Best Pedro Ximenez, all of which cost £6.

Morrisons also have offers on all their award winning wines, you can get two bottles for just £12.

The supermarket also has offers on Champagne, prosecco, and cava.

Bargain hunters can get two miniature bottles of prosecco for just £9, or a case deal where each full size bottle will cost you just £7.

If wine isn’t your thing for Christmas, Morrisons also have offers on their spirits.

A litre of spirits, including vodka, rum, and gin, are just £16.

Tesco

Tesco also had a successful night at the wine awards, winning 64 medals.

Their Finest* Vintage Port, £20, and Finest* Chablis Premier Cru, £15, won Gold medals in their categories.

The supermarket also came top out of high street brands for their sparkling wine, their own brand Finest* English Sparkling Wine, £17.50, won a Silver medal in the category.

Tesco have also put out their Christmas offers on drinks; you can get 25% off when you buy six or more bottles of selected wines or Champagnes.

It also has over offers on over 300 beers and ciders, such as four bottles for £6.

Asda

Asda took home 51 medals from the International Wine Challenge, including a gold for its Asda Extra Special Selection Pinot Noir, which is just £6.

Asda also have extra special Christmas offers in store and online.

Bargain hunters can get six bottles of wine for just £25, as part of their aim to give customers the ‘Best Christmas Ever’.

This applies to both wine, prosecco, and cava, and is available on over 30 different bottles.

Asda also have roll backs on beer; bargain hunters can get three big boxes of beer or cider for just £21.

Sainsburys

Although Sainsburys weren’t a winner at the awards last night, they have still got some great offers over Christmas, but bargain hunters will have to get in quick before they end.

Similar to Tesco and Asda’s offers, Sainsbury's are giving a 25% discount when you buy 6 bottles of wine, Champagne, sherry, or port.

However, the offer ends on the 12th December, and customers are limited to 36 bottles per customer, or per online order, and will only be available while stocks last.

Sainsburys are also discounting other alcoholic drinks in the lead up to Christmas, such as on whisky, vodka, and beers, but these are also limited to six per customer.
