In a surprising turn of events, a fast food chain you wouldn’t expect is now offering free coffee after Pret A Manger's decision to revise its reward scheme left customers unhappy. Previously, Club Pret's £30 a month subscription allowed customers to enjoy up to five drinks daily for just £1. However, from September, the cost will drop to £10 a month, equivalent to 33p a day, but customers must now pay half the cost of their drink.
To mitigate the impact, Pret has lowered the price of its basic filter coffee to 99p, down from £1.80. Nonetheless, the changes have driven many to seek alternatives, with Leon’s Roast Rewards emerging as a favored choice. For £25 a month, Leon offers up to five barista-made drinks daily, averaging around 83p a day. This subscription also includes 20% off breakfast and all-day food menu items.
As Olivia Marshall reported in The Sun, customers are vocal about their discontent with Pret's changes, taking to social media to express their frustration and explore other coffee chains with enticing loyalty programs.
Tom Church commented, "With the shift in Pret's loyalty scheme, it's no surprise that coffee enthusiasts are exploring new options. It's a great opportunity for other chains to shine."
